F1 » Axed Caterham staff hit back at team

Does appear that the new owners of Caterham went in all guns blazing in order to save costs. That may have been necessary but we shall see if they acted within the law. It's certainly not good to have dirty laundry aired in public but it is a tried and tested legal practice that can pressure the defending party to settle out of court.

F1 » Hamilton cost Rosberg win chance – Wolff

Barring mechanical disaster (which of late isn't too far fetched), one of the Mercedes pair will easily win the title. It's all well and good saying Nico would have won the race had Lewis let him through, but that entirely depended upon him immediately passing Alonso which is by no means a guarantee. Lewis also made the reasonable statement that if Nico were able to close in he would allow him through. Sky F1 did some analysis, which in my view heavily favoured Rosberg, but it confirmed that Nico would have finished second. Rosberg was bewildered after the race as he did not know the full details as to why Lewis did not move over. Lewis made the right call, as confirmed by the majority of the F1 paddock and fans. End of, move on, bring on Spa!

F1 » McLaren ‘threw it all away’ – Button

Button staying on at McLaren makes a lot of sense. He has proven himself in the past and has a historic relationship with Honda that was strong if not entirely successful. Everything being said by Jenson and the team does however suggest this is the end of the road. So who would take his seat? Grosjean is the most logical choice in my mind. He has grown a lot as a driver these past two seasons and has matured into a driver of Grand Prix winning quality. Plus he has the history with Eric Boullier in his favour. Stoffel Vandoorne has also shown impressive pace in GP2 but it is unlikely Ron Dennis and Boullier would want two young drivers to kick start their new era with Honda. A long shot would be Hulkenberg. I would love to see him in a top team but he is under contract with Force India until the end of 2015 at the very least. Time will tell...
