MotoGP » Ben Spies: I didn't have it to win a MotoGP championship

I think Ben has it pretty much correct. I've definitely saw him as capable of winning races, but with the likes of Marquez, Rossi, Lorenzo and Pedrosa around, I couldn't see him getting enough points to win it all. I saw him ride in the Ama a bunch and on good days he was awesome, he had allot of good days back then.. Thanks for the good memories Ben and enjoy whatever lay ahead.

MotoGP » Career best for top Yamaha Smith

Ive never had a bad word to say about Smith, and he obviously deserves his seat. But what is the big deal about this one race where he beat Rossi? Congress to him and I wish him continued speed and success. Having said those things I very seriously doubt in 10 years BS's racing stats will be even remotely close to even approaching Rossi's. Guess we shall see.

MotoGP » Ben Spies: I didn't have it to win a MotoGP championship

Guna4699: Accepting defeat is one thing,, but he completely floored by saying that he was never capable of winning... probably he surrendered fully and with absolutely no chance for anyone to raise questions to degrade him as he degraded himself to the limit possible..
What he said was he wasn't capable of winning a motogp championship. A very very small percentage of people can win a motogp championship. Just a handful of the billions of people on the planet. He acknowledged the ability to win a Motogp race on a real exceptional day. Also something very very few people alive can do. Ben is just being honest with himself and the people that follow motorcycle racing. I always thought he had his head fairly well planted on his shoulders and in reality and this article more or less confirms that.

MotoGP » Ben Spies: I didn't have it to win a MotoGP championship

brains: Stoner against marquez ffs, the paddock ould be littered with stoners ripped up teddys,he would get crushed by the spains wonder kid, spies had the talent that was obvious, but I think he needed a different crew around him,to adapt to gp bikes, and the new set up style, even rossi late in his career realised he had to change just about all he knew, and his crew,to get the best outta these electronic biased bikes, bens crew were still stuck in wsbk mode, and never got it right
Stoner beaten by Marquez, maybe, maybe not. Crush Stoner? On any given day highly unlikely. I could see those two being pretty even match, with some tracks, conditions, setup favoring one over the other. Toss a coin...

MotoGP » Ben Spies: I didn't have it to win a MotoGP championship

motomark1: Spies....what a disappointment. It's fitting he mentions Stoner because they are probably two of the most weak minded riders ever to ride in Motogp. Spies had twice the talent of Hayden, but not even half the heart. He should have just stayed in WSBK and given Americans something to cheer about on the world stage.
Clueless... Too much time on the old Xbox eh? Stoner is among the fastest riders Motogp has seen, ever. Weak minded has nothing to do with Stoner or Spies. Spies self assessment on front of the world takes guts not to mention the level of his riding which was at a very high level.

MotoGP » Crutchlow: Lucky it wasn’t in a helicopter

Ducatisti0: tommytrojan1 You have no ideia what you're talking about. If you would disable anti-wheelie or traction control you simply could NOT ride these bikes, doesn't matter who you are.
Yeah I imagine the old 500 two strokes, with light switch like powerbands and less advanced chassis' were a tougher ride. Electronics are not necessary by any means though are more about safety and avoiding litigation than anything else.

MotoGP » Crutchlow: Lucky it wasn’t in a helicopter

iusedtobesleepy: Make your minds up people. You all moan about the corporate yes men who toe the party line, then you all moan about someone telling it like it is. Which is it to be??? Are you suggesting he just ride around and take the pay check? Oh you didnt like the idea of that either. I get the feeling even if he won a race on it some on here would find a reason to dispute the worthiness of it.
Well no worries about Crutchlow winning a race. Because unless he switches bikes and 4 or 5 people just kind of disappear, he wont...

MotoGP » Cal Crutchlow - Q&A: Part 1

"... He does not have that level of star power (yet)!!" Yep not in the same universe, and very very likely never will be. And as far as supporting his move, why not? Crutchlow wanted a factory bike above all else and didn't have any other choices! Interesting how he goes on suggesting everybody else that was at Ducati didn't work hard or really try, so it's like he had to come along to motivate the team. I needed a laugh today.
