MotoGP » Phillip Island hoping for Stoner appearance

Stoner bad mouthed MotoGP? Look at the rubbish written about him over the years and that was the biggest deciding factor. As for him needing to be further up the front to avoid being hit in V8 Supercars. He has always been in the top 10 of a field of 35 when he has been punted off in the first three laps. Because the starting grid for race 2 is based on your results of race 1 he has always started mid pack for race 2 and passed many cars (and average of about ten per race). Because your grid position for race 3 is based on the combined results of races 1 and 2 he still ends up starting mid pack no matter how well he qualified for race 1 or how many cars he passed in race 2. He has consistently, even when racing from the back and passing many cars, posted lap times in the top 10. Considering his car is good but not the best that is more than impressive. His race on Sunday in the rain saw him post the second fastest lap and he had never raced on the wet tyres before.

If he does it he would probably be on the production prototype. If he did well on that bike then Honda can expect quite a few orders for 2014. It would only be marginally slower with the different valves and ECU. As for Bathurst. When he can come from 16th to 5th in a shortened race that was his first time racing a car in the wet then he can handle Bathurst. He has had a lot of practice overtaking cars after being punted out in the first race every round so far.

WSBK » WSBK boss responds to wet weather criticism

The riders have made it abundantly clear in the past that they, not the organisers, want the last say in if a race should proceed or not. Any single rides could have waved his arms after the warm up lap to abort the start and then discussions could be held as to the safety of continuing. The organiser should always have the ability to delay or cancel a race for safety concerns but the riders should and can veto the organisers wish to start a race.

MotoGP » Casey Stoner to test MotoGP Honda

There are still strange people who claim Stoner didn't like to race simply because he correctly questioned the safety of the accidental, and please remember it was not a planned move, pass at the Cork Screw in 2008. You totally forget the Catalunya race of 2007 where three of them battled it out till the end with many passes and Stoner winning by 0.069 of a second. Or the wet/dry race a Mugello a fortnight before where he battled with three or four riders before taking the lead and winning by a second. He loved to race but there were only a few times others were fast enough to keep up.
