MotoGP » MotoGP's fastest track set to get faster

Didn't even smell like normal asphalt. It had this horrible chemical smell that I can only compare to burning plastic. They cut away about 40cm of the surface before they started. Apparently the mixture they used was developed specifically for Philip Island and it is the first time it has been used anywhere. They actually made the asphalt on site rather than truck it in as the mixture worked better that way. A lot finer and blacker than the old surface from what I could see peeping over the fence. I would guess at least a second a lap improvement just by getting rid of the bumps caused by the cars. Hopefully this new mixture will stop the cars causing ripples.

MotoGP » Casey Stoner testing V8 Supercar

So people who have no idea about V8 Supercars are suddenly experts because they need to keep saying bad things about Stoner. Stoner's comment about Frosty was as a private citizen watching the race. Hundreds of people twitted equivalent messages but Frosty decided to concentrate on Stoner's because he wanted to get the Ford fans to rally against the upcoming threat. Stoner has no idea how he will do in V8s. He has never said he will automatically earn a place on the grid or the championship. Comparing his approach to Bayliss' is silly. Bayliss jumped into the premier class in the worst car on the grid. Stoner is preparing to race in the feeder class in the best car on the grid. The car that won the premier class for the last two years in a team that has won the premier class the last 4 out of 5 years and came 1st or 2nd in the feeder class for the last two. This team has the pick of all the upcoming drivers and thinks that Casey is the way to go. So either they are idiots or they see

MotoGP » Rossi: Stoner 'started to hate me' after Laguna 2008

I have read through all these and I must give the award for the funniest comment to those who keep saying Stoner cracks under pressure. What happened to Rossi at Valencia in 2006? Leading the championship by 8 points into the last race and he crashes whilst trying to keep up with Stoner who was on a satellite Honda. That has to be the biggest choke under pressure in the history of the sport. How come nobody ever asks him about that race?

MotoGP » Casey Stoner testing V8 Supercar

Wayne Gardner did very well in V8 Supercars. He ended up the Holden Dealer Team which at the time was the best team by a mile. He came 3rd at Bathurst, got pole at Bathurst and won the first ever V8 Supercar race after they ditched the Group A regulations. He was no slouch but often forgot that cars are wider than bikes. Hence the "Captain Chaos" nickname.

MotoGP » Rossi: Stoner 'started to hate me' after Laguna 2008

So people know more about that move at the Corkscrew than Rossi himself. Despite the evidence on the video it was somehow a disadvantage for Rossi and that he never touched Stoner. That contradicts everything Rossi has ever said about it. Apparently, according to the expert on here, Rossi was wrong when he said he was totally out of control and that he hit Stoner. Somehow Stoner was already having trouble getting around the corner? First time I have heard that porky pie. Must be hard to see properly through yellow tinted eyes.

MotoGP » Casey Stoner testing V8 Supercar

If anybody is interested. This is the first time he has driven a full spec Aussie V8. It is this (and last) years winning car. He was using old tyres. At the end of his three stints he was about 2 seconds off this years pole which is pretty damn good considering the older tyres and much higher temp. They were not going for lap times but making radical adjustments so he could start to understand how to set up a V8 Supercar. This car, or its sister car of Craig Lowndes, would be what he uses in the Dunlop series next year if he decides its worth trying. Today was all about helping him make that decision. These cars are a lot harder to drive than the new Cars For The Future that have been introduced for 2013. Last time he drove a V8 Supercar it was the slightly detuned test rig. On that day he did faster lap times than Craig Lowdnes, the multiple champion.
