MotoGP » ‘The lap time difference was 0.3 second’

I don't care how much faster Stoner's bike was than Rossi's on a single lap. Averaging it out, like they do when you download the race statistics from MotoGP, it was not a huge margin and there were many bikes faster so if he just relied on speed, how did he beat them? There is no explanation, apart from skill, for him being so fast down the straight on a satellite Honda in 2006. As I said, watch the replays and tell me he passed more on the straight than the corners.

MotoGP » ‘The lap time difference was 0.3 second’

I see this myth about Stoner only winning in 2007 due to superior top speed is raised again. In 2007 the biggest margin between Stoner and the second fastest bike, averaged over the 5 fastest laps, was 2.8KMH at Estoril. He won at Donnington with the 10th fastest average top speed speed. Losail with the 4th. Leguna Seca with the 3rd. Getting the fastest average speed down the straight is as much skill as power as he proved in 2006 where he was on a satellite Honda but was the fastest bike on 3 occasions and 2nd fastest in another 3. Look at the replays of 2007, he passed as much in the corners as the straights.

F1 » Hamilton wins thrilling battle in Bahrain

Other drivers deserve the drive more than Ricciardo.....WRONG! Vettel will thrash Ricciardo.....WRONG! Ricciardo doesn't know how to dice for a position.....WRONG! Vettel will qualify ahead of Ricciardo.....WRONG! All of those armchair experts who thought they knew better than Red Bull management about who should get the most coveted seat in F1 sprouted all of this rubbish and more. I don't think e has been off the track during qualifying and he races so far. He went from 13th to 4th in a car that was at least 10KMH slower down he straight than the slowest Mercedes powered car, He is a genuine talent with a rarity in F1, a happy disposition.

F1 » Ricciardo happy to be ‘close’ to podium return

The Ricciardo critics refused to look at his previous record in top flight open wheelers. The Verne supporters totally ignored the trouncing Ricciardo gave him when they both competed in the same Formula Renault team. I can't recall a single professional F1 reporter questioning the Red Bull decision. It was just the arm chair experts on Crash who think they know more than the Team Principles.

F1 » Rosberg comfortably wins season-opener

They will probably introduce megaphones for the cars. They did that for the motorcycles in the 50s and 60s to increase the noise. You also have to remember they are only doing about 12,000 RPM and not their max 15,000 at the moment. Daniel showed why he was signed. Not a single slip up all weekend. Fast dry, fast wet. He was about 20KMH slower down the straights than the Mercedes powered cars but it looks like the Red Bull has superb handling. Might take a while to catch up that gap. Hard to tell with the Ferrari as they were very conservative all weekend and I don't think we saw what their raw speed is.

F1 » Ricciardo not intimidated by Vettel

This bloke did extremely well in International Open Wheel racing before being picked by Red Bull. So please explain how and why others would be better in this drive than him? He has proven his ability to win championships and his wheel to wheel racing skill was proven without doubt in lower formula and in F1 itself. His first time in the Red Bull last year and he was second fastest. He will win races this year and he will be competitive.
