MotoGP » New name for 'CRT' MotoGP class revealed

Stoner rode with minimal traction control. I am sure Rossi probably uses less than most. The electronics are not need to be able to ride the bikes fast. What the electronics have done is reduce the advantage that the Americans and Australians used to have. They came from short circuit and local superbike championships where they learn throttle control and were happy the the rear wheel sliding. It developed skills far more suited to the 500cc two strokes than coming via the 125cc and 250cc classes. That is why there were so many top 500cc riders from those two countries. With the electronics and traction control the same style used in the lower classes is now relevant to the top class. It is an easier transition. I think the sport has lost a lot by taming the bikes. Disaster to tame them any further!

You could make all the bikes equal and slower and that would reduce the skill required. So yes, you would have more riders up the front but would that increase the spectacle? I think not! I would rather see the best riders tame and control the bikes with the most power and factory technology than a bunch of lesser riders competing for the lead. Remember when they removed the screamer engine from the NSR500 so other riders than Doohan could compete? That did not prove who was the better rider! When they allowed a choice the year after Criville was shown to be an inferior rider and he gave up on the screamer and went back to the big bang motor. Do what Stoner suggested. Remove traction control and increase the power. Let the best riders shine.

MotoGP » Casey Stoner rides Honda MotoGP Production Racer

So if Casey had taken 2013 contract he would have earned 22 million from Honda and probably 6 or 7 million from personal sponsorship. That makes Rossi earnings this year look pretty poor. Then even if he was putting around just for the money Rossi would have looked even worse this year. Stoner at 95% would be still be faster than what Rossi has done on the Yamaha this year.

MotoGP » Casey Stoner to ride at Australian MotoGP, but…

New surface was worth about 1. to 2 seconds per lap to the WSBK field. Both records will get smashed if the weather is good. I also have no doubt that Marquez will find the only place he is slower than Stoner is Stoner Corner. Casey has always been far faster than anybody else in that part of the track. With access to Stoner's telemetry he should be able to figure it out.

What don't people get about head to head. Stoner thrashed Rossi when comparing head to head on factory bikes. Do we think Agostini is better than Rossi because he won 15 world titles to 9? Most of us would reserve judgment because they did not race head to head but using Rossi fan logic we would have to say yes. When Rossi finally hand up the leathers we can all call him a quitter. Apparently somebody who announces his retirement when thrashing his team mate for the 2nd year in a row and is still favorite for the title and offered 22 million to stay is a quitter.
