WSBK » Two from two as Rea settles into Kawasaki

1MoreRound: Story line of the year, thus far, seems to be the war between the two former CBR riders / team-mates going head-to-head for the WC. Getting those two off of the antiquated Honda has been a huge boost to their respective careers, and a major bonus for the fans of WSBK.
Agree with you 100%. I honestly thought that Haslam was over the hill and on his way back to BSB and was surprised when I heard that he had got the Aprillia ride. I honestly thought that is was almost an injustice and that what were they thinking? That bike could win the title with a top rider on it. So it's so nice to see that 'that top rider' is Leon I'm so glad that he has shown me and other people that he is far from finished. I for one will be enjoying watching him and Rea going head to head for the WC this year and will be cheering them both all the way.

Yeah but it could also be argued that banning the FRICS suspension system last year was an attempt to penalise Mercedes? As I recall they had by far the better system one that worked left and right not just front and back. But all banning did was make the gap even bigger. As far as I know the Mercedes doesn't have a wonder technology that no one else has that's making it faster it's the fact that what it has got ( I.e chassis, pu & pu software is just better than anyone else's ) so there isn't really something you can ban to slow them down unless you change the whole formula which would kill everyone but the top teams financially.

dannycoupe1: Smithy2781 does that mean he's thrown in the towel on MOGP ?
I don't know but from comments he's made recently I get the impression that he wanted to stay in wsbk and fight for a championship instead of running around the back of the motogp grid. I think it's on this website when they Aprillia announced that he was coming back to Motogp that Marco said that the way that he got back was unusual ( or words to that effect ) so sounds like he was kind of forced to go back to Motogp.

Bandini: Judging by his times Melandri doesn't want to be there. Not sure I can see him starting the season at this rate
He not long just tweeted that he can't ride and apologised to his team.
Perhaps, age and the new family have blunted his drive? Don't give up, 33!
Probably, I think realistically he knows that at his age to get a good ride in motogp is going to be hard and that he has a better chance of succeeding more in wsbk.

ProfessorDave: 1) Why did Alonso spin off and hit the INSIDE wall? Top drivers just don't do that. 2) Why was he 'allegedly' changing down whilst about to hit the wall, surely that would be no help whatsoever? 3) If the car slid along the wall for 15 seconds he must have been unconscious, did this happen on impact or before impact? 4) It was a very slow speed accident in F1 terms, about 90 mph. The chassis and cockpit area weren't visibly damaged. How could he possibly have been knocked unconscious by the impact? Just asking.
The whole car didn't look that damaged so that means that the driver took most of the impact so it's highly paulisble. The safest impacts are the ones when the car breaks up into lots of pieces as this means the car and crash structure absorbed the impact.
