MotoGP » Excitement ahead of MotoGP debut

@Ben1 the satellite M1 is not "the bike that won the world championship". Any Spies fans will tell you that the #2 factory bike is not in the same league as Jorge's bike. Even if that isn't the case the satellite bikes are still a step down from Jorge's machine. Even if they were similar at the start of the season did you not notice all those "2013" parts that Jorge got mid season but Tech3 didn't? Yes I'm aware of the stories that Cal got 2013 parts for PI. But that doesn't mean Cal and Dovi have been riding the same bike as Jorge all year, any more than say Abraham has been on the same bike as Hayden and Rossi.

MotoGP » 'Calm' Crutchlow toasts second podium

@Don-R podiums by "non-aliens"? Well it very much depends on the bikes doesn't it. Last year there were five competitive factory bikes at the peak of their development. This year there are only four, and not as highly developed as in the last year of the 800s. As such the satellite bikes are closer to the factory bikes. I also get a bit bored hearing about aliens. Why? Well sure on the right track on the right weekend some riders can be in an entirely separate class and might warrant the epithet alien, but mostly the gap isn't really big enough for the term to be meaningful. Just like GOAT the word alien is so overused as to be almost meaningless.

MotoGP » PICS: Mick Doohan rides Honda RCV

@Jiri Simek you're right up to a point. Doohan won his five titles without that much notable opposition. Although I'm pretty sure he could have won titles anyway. Where it gets stupid is when people say that he would have won more had it not been for a couple of very nasty crashes. Sure IF Doohan hadn't crashed at Assen things could have gone differently, but then you have to ask what would have happened IF Rainey hadn't crashed at Misano. Would Doohan ever have won a title at all? In a sport like this IF means absolutely nothing. Things are too complex. There are those who claim that Schwantz would never have been champion had Rainey not crashed. It's a point of view, but IF Rainey hadn't crashed in 93 then Kevin would have been a different man in the 94 season. And so on. I can't be doing with IF. Doohan won five titles and thats one hell of an impressive CV, but that's all you can say. No ifs, no buts, five titles.

MotoGP » PICS: Dani Pedrosa falls, title chance ends

It would have been good for Dani to beat Casey, probably taking 9 points out of Jorge in the process. However he should have been realistic and realised that beating Casey was never, ever on the cards. The only reason he got past Casey was that he was taking more risks than Casey on cold tyres. Once the tyres were warm he must have known Casey was always going to take off into the sunset. Sure it was a brave risk to take, but a risk too far. Dani will be gutted if Jorge fails to finish at Valencia.

MotoGP » Dovizioso prevails in final lap thriller

Great racing among Bradl, Bautista and Dovi. Certainly kept things interesting and I don't think the cameras spent enough time on them. Again this dice showed what an idiot Steve Parrish is and how he's in love with the sound of his own voice. There was Parrish doing his usual pontificating, rather than commentating on the race and Cox had to interject to tell him about an overtake. Then we had the bit where Bradl got from fifth to third, then Dovi took Bautista to get back into fourth. To which Parrish's response was inexplicably to state that it looked like Dovi had got a problem. And of course there was the classic commentators error of stating that Bradl's tyre choice would make all the difference later on in the race. Which of course it didn't. I don't rate Cox as a commentator, but even he is in a different league to Parrish. Please, please auntie Beeb replace Parrish for 2013.
