MotoGP » Casey Stoner: I didn't expect those lap times

@DB8 A big enough favour making sure Jorge doesn't win? A favour, sure, but big enough, no. Even if Dani wins both the remaining races his earlier third and fourth places mean that Jorge can finish third and fourth in those races and still clinch the title. Even so whatever Casey says I think he'll be going for the win, but I also think there's a good chance his ankle won't be strong enough to let him ride 100% for full race distance.

MotoGP » Official: Ben Spies to miss Phillip Island

@Jesse James MY brit hero? Sorry mate, but you must be thinking of somebody else. I'm no particular fan of Cal, but as I've said before I'm not some sad nationalist who supports a rider simply because they were born in the same country as me. You don't see as much of that in the UK as you do in the US because we don't have nationalism rammed down our throats by the system. National flags in classrooms? No. Reciting an oath of allegience? Nope. Over here we're allowed to make up our own minds. MotoGP is not a representative sport. I understand nationalism when it comes to representative sport. Sure you want to see your national team win, but individual sport it different. Actually I have to say that this year I don't have any particular favourite in MotoGP. Dani and Jorge have both impressed me, not just with their riding but also their attitudes. I just don't have any "hero" in the class.

MotoGP » Ben Spies forced to delay Ducati debut

@The Bad Guy can we stop this "The Ducati" nonsense please. The bike that Rossi is riding has nothing significant in common with the bike that Stoner rode in 2007. And don't forget of course that when Stoner won his title on the Ducati he had two significant advantages. The Ducati had a huge power advantage and he had Bridgestone tyres. Not only did the opposition close the power gap, but the tyre gap closed too. What made Ducati the best package no longer exists. Add to the above the fact that Honda and Yamaha have made significant advances in the last few years while Ducati have almost stood still and I think you'll find that there is no chance that Stoner could win on the Ducati.

MotoGP » Ben Spies forced to delay Ducati debut

Guys please consider the fact that if Yamaha were to hand the factory bike to Tech3 it wouldn't be for Dovi. Why reward a rider who's signed a contract for somebody else next year? And secondly Yamaha would still have to replace Spies for Valencia (it's the rules) which would mean putting somebody on a Tech3 bike with factory team plastics. What exactly would be the point of that sort of complication for one race?

MotoGP » Lorenzo won’t 'go crazy' to wrap-up title

@KC why is this a sad day for MotoGP? This is the closest championship finish we've had for years. At least there's a chance this could go down to the last race. I don't think that's happened since 2006. Indeed in the MotoGP era 2006 is the only time it's happened. Much more interesting to have it go down to the wire than to have things all over with several races to go. I suppose there was an outside chance last year that with three races to go Jorge could have pulled back his 40 point defecit. Only a slim chance though. Just like this year it would have relied on the leader crashing. Unfortunately of course it was Jorge who crashed in practice and missed the last three (or as it turned out two) rounds.

MotoGP » Ellison in the dark over PBM’s 2013 MotoGP plans

Ellison's biggest problem this year has been that his own team's principal didn't get behind him. The gist of Bird's comments amounting to: we've built him a good bike and he isn't riding it right. Which sums up Bird quite nicely. PBM did not build the bike, they bought it. The team clearly didn't get their heads round it as quickly as other teams did. Blaming the rider alone is exactly what I'd expect of Bird. As for the promise of PBM building their own bike for next year, that's just typical egotistical Bird BS. PBM are not building a bike from the ground up. They'll be buying the frame, indeed the whole rolling chassis, from somebody else. Whether it's an existing CRT supplier or somebody new to CRT remains to be seen, but it won't be a PBM designed and built machine. Bird's claims that he and his team were why Kawasaki did so well in WSB have been shown this year to be BS. A Kawasaki 2nd by only half a point and Bird and his team nowhere in sight.

MotoGP » Lorenzo won’t 'go crazy' to wrap-up title

I think the point people (particularly Dani's fans) are missing is that we are where we are in the championship now because of what has happened so far. Now that might sound bloody obvious, but some people don't seem to get it. They talk as if it's unfair that Jorge can win the championship with a third and a fourth. It isn't. Jorge is in that position because he has put it solid first and second places to this point. Dani OTOH has come third on four occasions and fourth once. The order the races have come in is pretty much irrelevant. Even if Dani had won the first five races of the season, his thirds and fourths have left us where we are now. He is left with a mountain to climb because he hasn't been as consistently fast as Jorge. Imagine a football match where one side has come back from 5-0 down to 5-3 and there's two minutes left. The leading team can just defend for the last couple of minutes, even if they concede a single goal they've still won. Are they weaker for that?
