MotoGP » PBM wish Ellison well in the future…

@RSMick According to PBM themselves their own bike won't be ready to race until 2014. Even then I'm doubtful. PBM have no experience in building a chassis from the ground up let alone an engine and yet here they are claiming they are going to build their own chassis and engine. I doubt they could build an engine that would comply with CRT regs, R&D costs being what they are the unit cost would be way above the claiming price. So they're talking about building an engine from scratch in two years that can compete with the likes of Honda and Yamaha. 10/10 for ambition, but 0/10 for realism.

MotoGP » Valencia MotoGP - Friday practice (1)

You may have noticed that all the MotoGP bikes look pretty bland. That's because you're looking at the best shape the constructors could come up with in the wind tunnel and within the constraints of the regulations. Styling has absolutely no place in racing at this level. Take yourself over to the grid of any top flight car or bike series which is not production based and you will see that form will always follow function.

MotoGP » Valencia MotoGP - Friday practice (1)

@Duc sorry but the last wet race at Valencia was on new tarmac too. It was the first race on the circuit. So the fact that it's new tarmac is irrelevant. Furthermore nobody knew the circuit back then because it was new to the calendar. And of course that race was on 500s. You know the ones, power delivery like a violent thing, twenty-odd kg lighter than a current MotoGP bike and no traction control. Not as suited to a wet track as todays bikes. This morning everybody was just feeling their way round, getting used to things. It's just FP1 after all. If we have any more wet sessions expect the normal order to be restored. FWIW according to the weather man we've got a 40% chance of rain on race day. Interestingly though earlier in the week they were predicting friday and saturaday would be wet with sunday dry. Now they're saying saturday will be the dry day. Can't trust them.
