F1 » Button: I can still be champion

A bit odd that Jenson feels compelled to state "I can still be champion" at such an early stage. Only two races in and he feels the need to remind us that he is still in the running. At this juncture I doubt anybody would disagree as anything is possible at such an early stage. It's a development race so calm down Jenson, we know you still have a chance, no need to vocalise it. Unless of course you doubt it yourself and need to vocalise it to remind yourself. Either way I hope you are in the running because the more possibilities of contenders the greater the F1 show.

F1 » Hamilton insists: We have no number one

Be that as it is, whether there is a number one driver or not is irrelevant at such an early stage of the F1 season. In essence Rosberg should have been allowed to pass and on reflection Lewis knows it. Why he didn't let him pass is anyone's guess. I suppose we could argue that due to all drivers competitive nature they would never let someone by without fighting for it.

F1 » Hamilton 'pleased to prove people wrong'

Markfrankhamf1, I'm sure you should be more than optimistic this season. Mercedes have a new vigor about them and this isn't just because Lewis has joined the team but rather a concerted effort on their part to establish the team as they use to be when they where last in F1. So you should naturally have a spring in your step. They will be front runners soon enough.

F1 » Hamilton 'pleased to prove people wrong'

Richard, I'm surprised you have gone out of your way to point out that none of the top teams are the finished product. We all know it's a development race, likewise who said that the Mercedes is the finished product either. Horner was complaining about the tyres as were Mclaren and Ferrari hardly excuses in that case I would have thought. It seems you are criticizing the Mercedes team while pointing out the blatant obvious. If our previous exchanges is anything to go by I'm sure you can come up with a stronger argument. Do not take my post to heart, just having a dig at you on this occasion. Regards

F1 » Hamilton delighted with maiden Mercedes outing

I'm amazed at the constant negativity towards Hamilton here on Crash be it from the Jensen brigade or just folks who can't stand the mention of Lewis. It's really funny, any Hamilton thread that comes up and out come these folks who seem to harbour this deep hatred for this guy. It's remarkable, of course there are the usual suspects who never miss the opportunity to have a dig at him here on Crash. I mean really, you have to wonder why is it that the Hamilton threads are always the most talked about here, even when he isn't particularly active in a race. What does it matter if your a fanatical fan or not. It seems there is a deep rooted war of attrition between Jensen fans and Lewis ones. Considering they are both British I don't see what all the fuss is about. I understand the need for the occasional debate but this is beyond the norm, it really is becoming cumbersome. I can only hope that these folks move on from their constant always precarious view which we are all aware of.

Well they seem happy enough with fifth position but as Lewis reiterated in the post race interview he seemed bewildered as to why the guys in front pulled away so easily. So perhaps a truer reflection of the Mercedes team is that they are about the fourth team in the pecking order so far. Let's see what everyone is like in hotter track conditions next week then we can definitively say more or less where everyone is in relation to one another.
