MotoGP » Honda explains Stoner decision

Some stupid comments on here. I am a Stoner fan, and to all those people who say he doesn't deserve anything from HRC, because he turned his back on them . That's Bulls##t. At the very end of Casey's book he writes that the story is not over, I think all along he wanted a couple of years out, for a break and to spend some time with his wife and girl, like it can not be much fun taking a small child everywhere around the world with you. But Stoner is a racer and racers race until they can't through injury or they get dropped. I have no doubt he will come back, let's welcome him this time, and show some respect. Funny thing is it only seems to be hard line Rossi fans who treat him this way. I know Rossi himself would love to race against him again, he often talks about his best battles with Stoner. So Stoner haters, don't hate, cheer on your own hero but don't hate anyone else who is risking their life for their sport.

@codger. And for those reasons, Codger , surley the sport would be much better with him in it, even if you don't agree with his personality, all the greats had attitude. Senna , schumacker, eddie Lawson, Carl Foggarty, it was those personalities that made the entertainment. Now a lot of people want their heroes to run and skip with their teammates and rivals. World superbikes are hardly worth watching anymore because there are no personalities, Carl Foggarty made superbikes, and like Stoner was very outspoken, and oppionated, but he made the show more exciting, just like Stoner.

@tedG. That's true but that was 2 years ago, I think now Stoner must be missing what he has only known from the age of 8. But it does show how highly Honda rated Stoner. There for does it not seem ridiculous to now say he would not be fast enough and he does not know the bike. I remember his last race for Ducati, there was a test for all the riders the very next day on their new teams. Stoner was imediatly fastest on the Honda, by the way he had the Ducati on pole the previous day. Anybody on here who thinks he would not be up to it is seriously kidding themselves. I would be willing to bet he would be on the rostrom first time out

Would someone please tell me how the Ducati was advantaged in 2007, because I don't see what it had that was so great. Now I know the haters will say it went like a bullit, but as far as I am aware there is usually only one straight, and maybe 12 corners, now wouldn't it be more of an advantage to have a bike that handled the corners and was able to stop quicker. If you watch any footage of that year you will see the Yamaha is clearly advantaged, and the reason Stoner was so fast down the straights is because of his ability to get on the power long before anybody else, and all with minimum traction control compared with the rest of the field. I read a long time ago Livio Suppp said he was only running with 20% while others had almost full traction

I have read all the posts on here and have came to this, if Honda thought Stoner wasn't quick enough, why did they give Stoners ride to Johnny Rea a couple of years, they are really only looking for exposior for themselves, secondly the test rider they have put in will give them that, but with no hope of anything else. There really is only two realistic answers to this. One is that he would embarrass Pedrosas results, and just maybe take points off MM,. Secondly the only other situation must be Stoners fitness to finish the race. There is absolutely no doubt he would still be fast, that is why Honda still keep him around, its not because they need him, they don't, but they would be terrified if he went to Yamaha, Ducati, or suzuki

MotoGP » Vintage Rossi outwits Ducati for Qatar glory

Am I the only one who is thinking what the hell is Pedrosa doing on that factory Honda. Great race though, glad for Rossi, even more glad for Ducati. Not sure what to make of Lorenzo, he looked like he was holding them up for quite a while. MM looked pissed, but a brilliant ride from him, another 4 laps and he would have been with them. Would it not be great to see Stoner come back into that mix also.
