F1 » F1 Driver of the Year vote: 1st

JohnMarston: If it is based on the most consistent driver, the one who extracted the most out of the car, it can't be kimi. He had a period during the middle of the season where he struggled with the car and Grojean had his measure. I believe it was when Lotus changed to the shorter wheel base car. As much as people deny it. This pole is nothing more then who is your favorite driver. If it was based on consistent results, how do you go past a driver with 13-1st's, 1-2nd, 2-3rds, 2-4th and 1 DNF due to mechanical failure. Honestly
Oops, sorry John I wasn't intimating that Kimi deserved to be number 1 based in the criteria that I outlined. I believe that Vettel clearly deserved to be number 1 if those criteria were to be applied. Kimi would still be about 3rd or 4th by my reckoning despite his no-show in the final races which I believe were due to the pay dispute and the need to have the back surgery as soon as practicable.

My definition of driver of the year is the person who extracted the best, most consistent results from the machinery at their disposal. If Bianchi was a bit more consistent I would have rated him higher than some more fancied drivers such as PDR. It's not about who scored the most points, although the points scored may reflect consistency to a degree. Also how they compared to their team mate in the same machinery is a guide.
