F1 » Red Bull to appeal Ricciardo exclusion

To take the assertion that teams must comply with FIA requests to an absurd extreme for illustration purposes: suppose they had asked Mercedes to turn down their fuel flow 20% and Nico had finished 4th. Would that have been fair? If a sensor is faulty and giving incorrect readings and each sensor gives different readings there is sufficient reason to challenge such a directive. If they had turned down the fuel flow and been passed by the McLarens and Ferraris then afterwards the FIA was found to have been wrong in issuing the directive it would be too late. The choice RBR made gave them a reasonable chance of earning points if they believed they had a defensible position.
