F1 » Hamilton: More to extract from Mercedes


Lewis is a good fast driver although he does lack consistency during parts of the season. Nico is also fast but we don't really know yet whether he is a match for Lewis. Mercedes isn't quite where it needs to be yet in order to challenge the leaders but they may turn things around sooner rather than later. I believe they have a better chance than McLaren from what we have seen so far. It's still early days with a lot of races left.

I think what Lewis is saying is that his move to Mercedes was the right one especially given how bad the McLaren looks so far. I'm not a Lewis fan or any driver's fan for that matter but I think he is right on this occasion. Now he just needs to work hard with the team to see what they can achieve this year. It would be good to have them fighting at the front with Ferrari, RBR and Lotus - especially if it is unlikely that McLaren will be up there.

Fantastic driving executing the strategy to perfection. Kimi is definitely going to be a contender this season. There seemed to be little between the Ferraris and RBR though so this could be a very tight battle over the next few races to see who can adapt to the tyres the best.

I've been following F1 and other motor racing for over 40 years and I know that the conditions are the same for everyone, However, in changeable conditions it can be a bit of a lottery at times. I prefer it when the conditions, good or bad, are more constant and qualifying is more an indication of the performance of the driver/car combination.

@ Pole Position Then maybe she is a clairvoyant :) Q1 was certainly spectacular. The standings are quite interesting going into Q2. Hopefully it will be a little less changeable and they can stay with one tyre. The guys who got clean laps on intermediates dominate the top of the times over those who were on full wets.
