Guys, while some people may have their views on Carl Fogarty, this is not the time or the place to bring them up.

We have already had to remove one post and such comments will not be tolerated at a time when we should all be paying repect to a fine young rider who will be missed greatly in both the WSBK paddock and elsewhere.

Please consider this fact when making a comment.

Investigations will continue into the incident and go on for a while, as will the discussions that are bound to follow. However, as I have stated, there is a time and place for those discussions and this isn't it. I have not taken the decision to remove your posts lightly and I appreciate the argument you have put forward. Emotions are running high and I hope you will understand the decision that has been taken. Please can it be kept on topic. The relevant discussions on how and why will follow in due course as the investigation continues. As you stated in one of your posts, everyone is sorry for the loss that the Surtees family is feeling at this time. May Henry rest in peace.

The investigations that will follow will go some way to discovering the reasons why the incident occurred and why the wheel broke away from Jack's car. However, if the cars were not deemed to be safe, they would not have been allowed onto the circuit. Motorsport is dangerous, we all know that, but I am sure that none of the drivers or their parents/family would have gone out on track if they felt there was any risk other than the risks usually associated with motorsport. In reference to Palmer’s own incident, while tragic, it has nothing to do with what happened at Brands Hatch at the weekend...

Turnip, I am not one to deny people their right to free speech, as everyone is entitled to their own opinion - my point being made was that there is a time and a place for the various discussions that will take place following the accident. In my opinion, an article reflecting on the death of a young driver isn't necessarily the place to do this. The reference to the accident being a 'freak' isn't so much to do with the wheel coming loose from Jack Clarke's car, but more what happened afterwards. A split second either way and this discussion would not be taking place...

Turnip, First things first, the media are not 'in Palmer's pocket' as you so kindly put it. As I'm sure you have noticed, this article is a statement about the death of an 18-year-old who had a long career ahead of him and most of his life to lead. Should his family and friends view these boards, the last thing they would want to read is your personal attacks on JP. As the statement states, full investigations will take place into the accident which - as noted in most places - was a freak incident. Another split second and the wheel would have missed everyone and this tragic situation wouldn't have occurred. Please have some respect for John, Jane and family when posting. Matt, Editor

Whatever people may think of Max and his private life, the death of his son is not a topic to be joked about - hence the removal of some posts from this thread. Keep it on topic.

Hi Johnsy, When the American open-wheel merger took place, we took the decision to consolidate all of our IRL and Champ Car news onto one IndyCar channel. In order to continue to cover the Atlantic Championship, even following the demise of Champ Car, we therefore included it in the IndyCar channel. Had we not taken that decision, then chances are that we wouldn't be able to cover the series anymore. Hope that helps Matt Editor

Hedgeholer, When the current version of Crash.net was introduced, we implemented a 'sticky story' facility which allows us to leave a major news story - such as Brookes missing Brands - near the top of the homepage news. As the story has now been made 'unsticky' it slots into its original position on the newslists so is easily accessible if you simply go to the BSB homepage. The story, and the resulting comments posted, haven't gone anywhere. Hope that clears up your query Matt Editor

The bivouac is basically the service point where the drivers will all meet up at the end of each leg of the event.
