F1 » F1: McLaren ‘can start 2015 where it finished 2014’

They are not saying much, they were not competitive last year and everyone will have moved on, there is also the question of reliability and we haven't seen much of that so far. My guess is that they will be lucky to finish in the top ten most races even if Alonso manages to qualify well, another 5th or 6th in the championship looks about right.

F1 » Dennis denies Alonso has Mercedes exit route

I'm sure all the top drivers have exit clauses built in to their contracts and I would expect Alonso to be especially cautious given McLarens record over recent years and the new Honda powerplant. Let's say this year is a disaster, an uncompetitive and unreliable car that finishes way down the order, Alonso is known for speaking out and no doubt will. With Mercedes fishing for him is it not likely he will want out, he is nearly as old as Button and hasn't won a championship for 8 years. Whatever RD says the negotiations took a long time and that was in part because Alonso was driving a very hard bargain and covering his backside. Hopefully this is just supposition as I would like to see Alonso and Button in a very good car, people will be surprised just how well Button will do against Alonso.

F1 » Boullier: We have to believe that we can win

More bull**** and waffle from Boullier, all sportsmen believe they can win that's what they are in it for, problem for Mclaren is their very poor record of recent and the disasterous first test of the engine. If he thinks they will be good enough to compete next year he is deluding himself big time, it took Mercedes a long time to become competitive and most people in the know think five years is par for the course. I'm also inclined to think that Mclaren's problems with basic car design and aero won't have gone away overnight, if they were so wrong that Peter Promodu moves them in a different direction it will take time, in addition I don't believe the Honda engine will be anywhere near a match for Mercedes, they have a quantum advantage which everybody will struggle to match. I suggest Mr Boullier returns to France and has a good rest because he has a very busy year ahead of him.

F1 » Button: Having Alonso as my F1 team-mate means a lot

Could be the battle of 2015 it all depends on the car and engine, if it's good they will be very close, if it's bad Button will struggle and Alonso will drive it's wheel's off regardlesss. I have to say it's about time Mclaren produced a good car, thye have had a very poor run but it will need the Honda power unit to be both powerful and reliable not something that showed well in it's first test, but if anybody can do it Honda can so I'm really hoping that both Mclaren and Honda are at their very best.
