F1 » Honda fears falling behind

I Don't think they have much to worry about, they have a great history of producing good powerful engines and I'm sure they will be keeping a close eye on what the others are doing. They will also have another year to continue to develop their engine. The real problem will be Mclarens continuing inability to produce a season long competitive car. It's all very well winning a couple of races but unless you can go through the entire season no championships are going to come your way, I think it was 1998 when Mclaren last won the constructors championship and it will be six years since they just managed to win the drivers championship, surely not a good portent for the future despite all the bragging coming out of Mclaren.

F1 » F1 to introduce cost cap

They have been talking about a cost cap for years and it has never come to anything. For it to be effective it would have to suit all of the teams and that is simply not going to happen, Redbull/Ferrari/Mclaren and Mercedes are not going to agree to having their budgets slashed and it's not going to make any difference to the backmarkers because they don't have any money anyway. They eek out what they have just to complete a season. However their are ways that would save a huge amount of money such as simplying the aero rules so that teams do not spend every waking hour developing new twidly bits, there should be a basic standard aero package that you can develop within certain parameters but no further. Another area is personal numbers and the ludicrous motor homes that some of the leading teams have. I well remember the days when Ron Dennis insisted that the Mclaren pits were lined with the finest Italian white marble, have you ever heard of anything quite so f.....g stupid. I am sur

F1 » Andretti suggests customer cars will happen

Customer cars are not needed in F1, Bernie has said 20 cars are enough so I don't see the need. In addition the constant changing of rules would mean that last years cars would not be legal anyway. Also if teams like Marussia and Caterham were to run obsolete cars it would not improve there position on the grid even if it was cheaper. What is actuallay needed is a proper policed cost cutting scheme and a simplification of the rules to do away with the massive amount of money being spent on twidly aero bits that either don't work or are changed at every race. It would be nice to thin k that common sense might prevail one day but I would'nt put any money on it.
