F1 » Button cautiously optimistic of McLaren progress

I don't see anything that suggests that Mclaren are any more competitive, 8th fastest is about par for them and that flatters to deceive as Button tends to get poor starts and spends the rest of the race trying to get past the midfield cars. Unless you are on the first two rows at Monaco generally you are wasting your time and will be stuck behind whoever qualified in front of you or jumped you at the start, I also think that two seasons of crap cars from Mclaren has begun to get to Button and he's beginning to go through the motions rather than give it a go. I'm no Hamilton fan but he would flatter the car while Button tends to make the car look even less competitive than it actually is not that that would lead to any podium finishes just that he would get it further up the grid which is a nesscessity everywhere but especially at Monaco.

F1 » Boullier: McLaren working flat-out

Mclaren can work as flat out as they like but if they are not doing the correct things there will be a repeat of last year. Other teams upgrades seem to make at least some difference, Mclarens seem to make little difference at all other than Button saying it seems to drive better than before or some other inane remark. There problem seems to be that their designers and aero people don't seem to have a very good grasp of what they are doing hence their rapid slide down the grid. I hope for Buttons sake that there is some rapid improvement becauseif there's not i rather suspect he will walk away or be replaced by someone who RD percieves will do a better job.

F1 » Smedley: Red Bull ‘hugely impressive’

Red Bull are probably the only team that can challenge Mercedes once the engine etc is up to scratch, Mclaren and Ferrari have lost there way and I don't believe thry have the staff to rectify their problems in the short term, as for Williams and the others history tells us that they will fade away as the season progresses and the money starts to run out. This makes it all the stranger that Mclaren and Ferrari can't get the job done with the huge budgets they have, something seriously wrong somewhere.

F1 » Button: Monaco could help McLaren

I don't see Mclaren vauting up the grid just because it's Monaco, they are far too far away from the fastest cars and Button's inability to qualify well will probably mean that he starts outside the top ten. Best we can hope for is a conservative cruise to 11th or 12th with a real chance of being lapped before halfway. Mclarens ability to talk big and continual failure to achieve is beginning to wear a bit thin.
