F1 » Button confident McLaren will finish Australian GP

To finish it first he has to start, not something that can be guaranteed thus far, the car is well off the pace and has been very unreliable. I will be surprised if they are not on the back two rows or do qualify due to repeated reliability problems. It's all very well talking it up but that does not help the problem, time and miles is what is needed and they have neither.

F1 » Button ready to open ‘new chapter’ down under

I feel so sorry for Button, he's putting a diplomatic brave face on it but he must have hoped for so much more. With their disasterous run of testing alowing them limited mileage they will be lucky to get on the back of the grid and will probably be fighting with Marussia for the last row. Not what they would have hoped for but the other teams have as usual done a much better job of producing a reliablly competitive car. I can see McLaren dropping ever more behind unless their reliability problems are swiftly solved.

I hate to be pedantic but there are two big spelling errors in your post 1 Disasterous should be disastrous 2 Marussia I believe should be Manor. I really hope they have sorted out the reliability so we can get an idea of their prospective competitiveness. ( Hope I spelt that correctly :-) )
SORRY about that my spell check is worse than me!

F1 » Symonds ‘really pleased’ with Manor F1 return

While I'm glad that they have been able to survive I wonder what the point is, they will be using last year's Ferrari powertrain and will therefore be even more uncompetitive than last year. I think this has rather more to do with Ferrari and McLaren recuperating their money. I agree we need more teame but they need to be properly set up and finded as I suspect the Haas tem will be, there is no point in coming in with a tiny budget and expecting everybody else to help you out.

F1 » Magnussen ‘massively disappointed’ with McLaren axe

I seem to have upset a few people but quite a number agree! It's a great shame that McLaren have once again started on the wrong foot. The point I was making of course is that we have had this for the past two seasons, the hype and build up about how good the new car was going to be and on both occasions it has been a flop no matter how McLaren developed it. This season they have a new engine which so far has proved very unreliable and up to 2-3 seconds off the pace. The two put together suggest that they will be very hard put to get the car anywhere near competitive this season especially if it keeps breaking down. I an confident enough of my prediction to have put money on McLaren failing to score more than a handful of points this season. I will however be very happy to eat my hat if McLaren as much as win a race but I think I'm on a pretty safe bet.

F1 » McLaren ends testing with 32 laps-a-day average

I'm sorry grantrd if I appear a bit negative but Mclaren have repeatedly failed to produce a competitive car despite their vast experience and budget. The facts stand that McLaren have not won a manufacturers championship for over ten years. This year things were all going to be different, a new Honda power unit, a new designer and the best driver on the grid, why has it failed so badly so far, I don't know but clearly both parties are simply not as good as they think they are, other teams with far less money do a far better job so questions need to be asked. I for one am a Button fan and there is nothing better I would like to see than Button in a top car but that look slight years away. I really hope the situation improves I just don't have any confidence that they can pull it round. By the way I don't spend all day on my computer, have you been speaking to my wife because she seems to think I do!!!!
