F1 » Dennis: McLaren could retain line-up

It's just RD covering his tracks, Mclaren have been blatent in their chase of Alonso and possibly others and now RD has realised that he is not going to get his first choice he is backing off. There is also the question of money it's said Mclaren offered Alonso 32M$ a year, if so it suggests they have no shortage of cash, but if Button stays possibly for a final year you can bet your life his salary will be slashed to the bone, they hold all the aces they either get who they want or they keep a safe pair of hands for little money knowing Button is desperate to keep driving, it's harsh but that's the reality of the situation.

F1 » McLaren: No plan to “ease off on the gas”

There is little point in Mclaren continuing to develop their present car, it is not going to get anywhere near Mercedes, Red Bull and Williams it is just EGO they don't want to be beaten bt Force India with a fraction on their budget. Much better that they at least try and build a decent car for next season, I don't think Honda will be too pleased qualifying in 12th place and finishing a distant 7th. Mclaren are not in the bigtime anymore they are just a midgrid team trying to improve, something they have singularly failed to do RD or no RD.

F1 » Alonso: I want to finish job at Ferrari

Much talk over the Alonso situation. Does anybody really know what his contract says, I read elseware that his contract states that if he is more than 25 points behind the championship leader at a certain point then he can leave, I also read that RD has offered him 32million$ to go to Mclaren. I don't think money motivates Alonso and Mclaren are unlikely to build a good enough chassis despite all the rhetoric coming out of Mclaren so the likelyhood is he will stay at Ferrari. However if Hamilton/Rosburg/Vettel decide to retire he might have other options, jst how likely is that?

F1 » Honda confident of matching Mercedes on F1 return

The engine may be fine but Mclaren can't produce a decent chassis and I would'nt be surprised if Red Bull took over the programme after Honda have realised their mistake after the first season. Honda and Mclaren have a very good history but that is all it is, the past, Mclaren are struggling to match teams with far less resources than them, I think Honda have let nostalgia get in the way of a rational decision.
