F1 » FIA confirms F2 revival as official F1 feeder category

It's a good idea in principle but my main problem is that whatever feeder series is successful, drivers with money rather than talent move into FI thereby lowering the standard of what is supposed to be the world's premier racing series. Perhaps it should be part of the regulations that only the top 2 or 3 finishers in the championship would be allowed to be considered for F1 to ensure that only the best drivers get into F1.

F1 » Alonso predicts up to 1.5secs gain for McLaren

They are still miles away from the front and given their performance over the past few years when they started way behind is doesn't bode well, then they were 1to 2 seconds off the pace and now they are even further behind so it looks unlikely to me that they can get anywhere near the front, by end of season I would expect them to be qualifying in the top 13/14, given the speed of improvement in F1 anymore than that seems most unlikely.

F1 » Button: McLaren must bridge gap on rivals

Stating the bl..dy obvious but Button always toes the party line, he knows he's in a crap car and has no chance of ever winning another GP and is still paid a huge amount of money so why rock the boat? I don't believe Mclaren can catch up, 6 seconds off the pace in Brisbane and one engine down they are in huge trouble and with unreliability and no testing have little or no chance of even keeping up let alone catching up. It's pretty clear now that Honda totally underestimated what was needed and came in at least a year too early. This is damaging for the image of F1 as Honda would surly have offered the engine to Redbull and others had it proved remotely competitive, now the situation it changed radically, no team will take a gamble on the Honda engine as things stand. It'sbad news for Button, two seasons of trailing round at the tail of the field will be a very sad final to Button's career. Alonso should have known better and probably did but could'nt get a Mercedes drive.

F1 » Boullier defends cautious McLaren-Honda start

Boullier is a joke, Honda have had plenty of time to get their powertrain up to speed so how is it that at the very first race they had to turn it down because it was hot, the first few races are always likely to be hot and havn't changed so something has gone very wrong. Perhaps like Renault Honda have completely underestimated what is required in F1 these days, also McLaren are far from being free of critcism, Button saying that the car doesn't have enough downforce yet again. One wonders if this partnership can ever be successful and if by midseason they are still trailing round at the back I wonder how Alonso will be feeling. Button's lucky to have the drive so he will keep his mouth shut and collect his pay reduction without complaint but Alonso will have begun to realise that he's in the wrong place yet again.

F1 » Do Honda’s issues harm more than just McLaren?

The failure of Honda to produce a competitive engine will have repercussions for them, I imagine Red Bull for one might have been looking in their direction so if they ditch Renault where do they turn. Bernie has mentioned Cosworth who I believe have an engine on the slab waiting for someone to put some money in. Either way this fiasco will frighten off prospective engine suppliers and new teams wishing to enter. I could see this coming, we had perfectly good V10 engines and despite talking cost cutting they go and introduce these very expensive and complicated engines, totally brainless I think but what do they care about the punter who pays to watch.

F1 » Wolff: F1 doesn’t need a big shake-up

Toto is totally deluded, his team is top of the pile so everything must be OK, he couldn't be further from the truth. Several teams are on the brink, one has gone and we have the Honda fiasco. I can't see any right minded organization coming in when they know it is weighted against them from the start. They talk about cost but do nothing, their own self interest reigning supreme at all times. F1 is heading for a fall, uncompetivive and boring racing, escalating costs, pay drivers, circuits pulling out, Bernie being Bernie. Best hope is that a rival series can be started up like happened in the states, it might not be a success but it might cause some heads to be banged together and some commonsense to be talked. How Jean Todt can say these powertrains are the best thing for F1 is beyond funny. I often onder if these people actually watch the races because they seem to have seen a different race from me from what they say afterwards. I will be giving this season a miss and I think a lot
