MotoGP » Smith does ‘best possible job’ for season best result

MLF: I didn't think he'd have anything to crow about after this race ,but hey, here we are again. 8th and inherited up to 5th. MY best result !!!!!!!!!!!! oh dear. His only credit goes to fast starting ,(for some reason?) then its always a big fade as everyone gets into their stride.
His starts are the result of skill and balls. Pretty simple really.

MotoGP » Front tyre woe for factory stars in Michelin test

MotoVR46: Back in the early 2000's Honda used Michelin and Yamaha was on Bridgestone but the Hondas kept crashing ( remember DP bad crashes) DP complained and Honda actually broke the contract with Michelin to go with Bridgestone and I think the year after it was determined that only one tire manufacturer would supply tires to all teams.
Yamaha and Honda were both initially on Michelins- VR was the first to switch followed by DP.

MotoGP » Rossi, Lorenzo: Race pace comparison

Dan900: have noticed for the last couple of years now that Rossi and Lorenzo always get through the warm up lap as quickly as possible, have also started seeing the tech3 boys doing it now. Is this to give as much time as possible to cool down on the grid or to work the engine hard before the race. Any one else noticed this?
I noticed Smith doing this at Mugello.

MotoGP » Front tyre woe for factory stars in Michelin test

Seeing as there will only be one tyre manufacturer it is unnecessary to go for maximum speed to the detriment of consistency. Concerns were raised by some riders about top speeds at Mugello- why not have tyres which are more predictable but give less outright grip?- that way top speeds will be reduced and there will be less high sides and front end crashes. Oh and get rid of carbon brakes as well.
