F1 » Alonso ‘was completely at the limit’

@areyoutalkingjibber I agree that we some fantastic drivers at the moment with Alonso being the cherry on the cake. But it is difficult to compare drivers from different eras. Something we know is that back then the cars were harder to race, much more unreliable and unpredictable. Many drivers lost their lifes. It was in the early 90s that the drivers lost control of their cars, with traction control, launch control, abs, active suspension ect and the cars were easier to drive. Most of this features were banned, reintroduced and then banned again. Schumacher won titles racing cars with and without traction control, and he was awesome in both eras. There's no reason to say that today drivers can't race (and I mean RACE) the F1 cars of 70s or 80s. After all the 2014 cars looks harder to drive than those of 2006/2007 or 2013 but still drivers manages to get supreme control on them (just look Ricciardo at Spa, to his credit) but there are still away to the madness of pre 90s. So credit to

F1 » Alonso ‘was completely at the limit’

Posting identical lap times in Q2 and Q3 shows he was on the limit and mistake-free. If he manages to keep his usual consistency I believe that he can improve on his starting position. The McLarens ahead of him aren't unbeatable, but the Red Bulls behind him are also a threat. And there were a few surprises in the last 5-6 GPs, some unexpeced results, so this trend might continue.

F1 » Bottas surprised by Red Bull pace

Red Bull's ability to turn the tables is impressive, their rate of in-season development is currently the best, it has been so for quite a few years now. Alongside Mercedes, Williams and Marussia, I consider them as great winners this season. On the other hand Ferrari, McLaren and Lotus are big loosers this year, because not only they got it wrong, they also look unable to make a big step forward. The season isn't over yet but I doubt they can improve much this year.

They always put Hamilton as the most likely to take pole. They forgot that Lewis hasn't got a pole position since the Spanish GP. It wasn't always his fault but also he did made his own mistakes in qualifying this year. As for the race result, I guess that Williams will handle better the opposition by Red Bull this time. If does not rains.

F1 » Ferrari battle not personal – Smedley

Smedley is talking much in recent months. Ok, he is making a very good job at Williams but I thought that the man who is most responsible for Williams current form was Pat Symonds, which rarely speaks to the media. Maybe I'm wrong, does anyone of you guys knows something about the contribution of Smedley and Symonds in the Williams team? Having the Mercedes engine did help Williams this year but also the chassis and other stuff is quite good in the FW36. Someone has to take credit about that(also every employee gives his contribution), as usually happen with Newey's incredible designs at Red Bull or in the cases when someone is pointed as responsible for the failure and is fired. Who's the main man behind the succes of the FW36 (aside Bottas :) ) ?

F1 » Hamilton: We both made mistakes

I doubt that the main problem is solved. Both of them wants the drivers title and when the season gets closer to the end I expect more fireworks between them. Maybe in Monza things will be more calm but if Lewis manages to cut the point deficit race by race, I do expect Rosberg to be on full attack mode. Who knows, maybe they can try to block each other, maybe they will use again the special engine modes (against the direction of the team) and maybe they will crash again. It will be very interesting!
