F1 » Grosjean: Monza will be tough for Lotus

Lotus didn't performed well at recent races (after Monaco) and with the ban of the FRIC system I don't see them making much improvement in the near future. The Spanish GP was the highlight of their season, how Grosjean managed to outqualify both Ferraris there and also he raced against them. Now they are in serious trouble. Luckily for them Grosjean managed to score a few points in order to keep the team safe from Sauber or Marussia. Anyway this is a terrible season for the team. Monza will be just another touch and pointless race for a team that until last year was able to get big points and even podiums at every race.

F1 » Ricciardo: It’s never over

Ricciardo as impressive as ever. Not a single mistake today. Well done. It is curious that after qualifying he said he was confident of challenging his team-mate, Ferrari and Williams drivers but he hoped that something will go wrong for the dominant Mercedes. It happened exactly as this and he was there to capitalise on it. This guy looks to be telepatic as well. Red Bull hit the jackpot by signing him.

F1 » New chassis for Vettel in Monza

benignlyindifferent: Question. Under the new formula, and with money no object as you hypothetically set your new driver lineup, who would be your top two drivers? Mine would be Ricciardo and Alonso.
Mine too! Without undermining the great job of some other drivers like Bottas, Bianchi or the Mercedes drivers as well, I really think that these two are the best drivers of the season so far.

F1 » New chassis for Vettel in Monza

I think this is tradition now. Whenever Vettel is on trouble, a new chassis. This happened in 2010, 2012 and twice in 2014(this year the matter is serious). I bet that the new chassis at best will iron more Vettel's confidence than the handling of the car. This would be good as well but will be enough to beat Ricciardo? I doubt it. @Alex4F1 Alonso and Raikkonen crashed a few times in 2004 and 2008, so Trulli and Massa got the upper hand on them for a few races. But it wasn't the case that they failed to led at least a lap while their team-mates won races. The same could be said for Hamilton in 2011.

F1 » Raikkonen hopes for ‘welcome surprise’ at Monza

Last time Kimi raced at Monza for Ferrari he finished 3rd, which was a very good result considering that the Force India was very strong on low downforce, and McLaren's Kovalainen was on a very effective one stop strategy. I hope he can repeat it. Also it was Brawn GP's last one-two finish, they would not win another race after it. Lets see what Mercedes can do, Lewis and Nico are not the nice guys like Jenson and Rubens in the Brawn GP.

F1 » Horner: We never thought Ricciardo would be this strong

I doubt anyone thought that Ricciardo would be such strong this year, neither the bosses of RBR/STR nor we fans. He wasn't very special at Toro Rosso, while Vettel impressed everyone when he raced for the junior team. I remember reading an article at F1 Rejects last year. They thought that Vergne would be a better choice for RBR and Daniel wouldn't fare better than Webber did. Mind you that the admin of that page is Aussie himself. Mercedes should enjoy it while it lasts. If Renault gets it right next year, they are in serious trouble for 2015.

F1 » Alonso: Race was over after penalty

Today I saw many drivers overtaking after Eau Rouge (the most obvious place for overtaking) using their superior power or much fresher tyres or both of them. It was nice watching Kimi and Fernando trying it in different places, showing the world what amazing drivers they are despite having less power than their rivals or inferior aerodynamics (compared to RBR, Mercedes). Kimi's driving today deserved a podium finish and Fernando deserved more than 7th. Hope that they will have more luck in Monza.
