F1 » Alonso looks for light at end of tunnel

Let's not be too negative. Fernando, believe it or not, must of had a full power lap on Lap 34 as he recorded a 1:53.692, compared to the fastest lap of the race set by Rosberg on the same lap wich was a 1:52.416. Yes, Alonso in the supposed doomed McLaren Honda that seemingly never works recorded the fifth fastest lap of the race, beating Vettel, Kvyat, Grosjean, Bottas and Massa to name a few, and they were at full power on softs as well. He was also 1.8 seconds faster than Button's best lap. There is some genuine race pace in that McLaren Honda, the trouble is that they're not running at full power long enough, the ERS and ECU are overheating and the ECU/ERS is getting no energy. Once that is sorted, McLaren Honda could have some serious pace.

F1 » Button: Slowly, but surely…

Isn't there a general rule that Honda are s**t the first year they come back to a sport and are on top by Year 4/5? Even in the BAR days, They had some podiums and what not in their lean period, had a lot of success from 2004-06 and then dropped the ball. That was with V10 and V8 engines, which aren't really their foray. V6's are what they're more suited with, are they not?

F1 » Ricciardo talks Raikkonen replacement rumours

Are people confusing Ricciardo for Webber? As far as I know, Dan and Seb get along alright and don't seem to have any beef with each other what so ever. They were fine as team mates even though Ricciardo was placing higher then Seb and I would imagine that they'd work fine at Ferrari together. I mean, Daniel scored wins in the dog of a car last year while Seb didn't, but Seb has helped turn Ferrari around slightly this year as well and Dan is struggling. Don't forget too that in the last 2 years Ferrari has has a former world champion in both of their cars with no complaints (aside from Raikkonen's lack of form in 2014 and bad luck this year). To me, Ferrari could do with two young fast guys who are talented and are there for the long term that can develop and push the Mercs. TL : DR: Ricciardo and Vettel would be fine together at Ferrari. You'd think.

F1 » FIA opens applications for new F1 team

I don't get why customer cars are such a big issue in F1. MotoGP has been doing it for years now. This year's Forward bike is a modified version of last year's Tech 3 bike, which was also a modified version of the 2013 Yamaha's that Rossi and Lorenzo rode. If it's due to teams not wanting to let their 'secrets' be known to other teams than it's entirely hypocritical of what every team boss has been saying. "We need F1 to be exciting and we need competition as long as we're the ones who win!". For the sake of the sport we should just at least offer customer chassis frames and have the teams build up on it with their own parts and body work. That way every car is still different and the costs are down.
