F1 » Renault has to take risks – Taffin

Taipan: FVA, They are allowed to continue developing the engine to improve reliability. The freeze is on performance, although it seems like Renault need to improve both performance and reliability as things stand. The freeze is a bit of a flawed rule when you think that Honda can spend the next 12 months improving their performance before turning up next year.
I disagree, I see in no way how the rule is flawed. Honda is not actively participating in F1 so they should be able to do whatever they want. You cant tell a company who isnt yet under contract what they can and cant do.

F1 » Latest F1 cars 'a mind-blowing display of innovation'

I have not problem anymore with the new "power units". My issue is the lack of power output. Formula one cars should have no less than 950hp imo. Anything less is not enough hp. I just watched every season review of F1 from 1990 to 2012 (over the course of a few weeks) and my god were those mid 2000's cars scary fast. Watching how quick they were on the straight at spa and the difficulty of overtaking without drs using grooved tires was awesome. The pwoer was just incredible. I was literally on the edge of my seat! And senna back in the day beasting it up with no aids and a manual shifter. I get the future is now and the power supply had to scale down to a v6 eventually but why limit the ers amount that can be used to 33 seconds a lap??? Why not let the engine and motor work together to fully produce over 900 hp at all times with no drs crap? Not that hard to make people excited about F1 with this new setup, but to make it so tight on fuel and to lower the power?????

107SS2009: Shannon, I don’t mind the numbers (output) what I don’t like is the restriction on the number (output), I think the output (number) should be free.
Your right they should be free to get the maximum out of the technology. And anybody who says F1 cars shouldn't have a lot of power is crazy. I want to be on the edge of my seat thinking these guys are insane to drive these! Right now im like oh that was cool but never am I fearful. And I dont want to anybody to get hurt of course but some danger is needed imo. Even Lewis said when it gets too safe he wont be interested anymore and im willing to bet Mark felt that they were too safe and slow and said to himself these boys can have this crap I remember when I drove real F1 cars.

107SS2009: The fuel flow and fuel load regulations are limiting both the power output and race RPM that can be used for a race duration, the expectations are 600 BHP at 10500 RPM, I am talking about the IC engine only here, to that must be added the ERS output of 161 HP for 33.3 seconds per lap.
Do you think that is too little? This is F1 I find im always wanting more not less, seems silly.
