F1 » Ricciardo not intimidated by Vettel

Fullofit:
Taipan: Sunny, I have a feeling that you might just have upset Australia. :p
Sorry for Australia, but Sunny is correct. Their next hope of finding another Webber isn't this guy ... it might ... MIGHT ... be Evans. & even then, Webber clearly was no Vettel beater.
Note that Evans is a New Zealander. However, Australia will soon amalgamate him as one of their own, as is always the case with successful New Zealanders. I think that Ricciardo's talent is too often overlooked or underestimated. In his first seasons, he has performed as notably as Vettel did when you consider the relative performance differential of the STR3 and STR7/8. I wouldn't expect him to be as quick as Vettel off the bat but I would say that come the summer break, things will be a bit more levelled.

F1 » Chilton ‘really keyed up’ for 2014

"Chilton showed impressive consistency to finish every race but was often outpaced by his team-mate Jules Bianchi." I think this needs rephrasing..."Chilton showed impressive consistency to finish every race four or so laps down, but was comprehensively outpaced by his team-mate Jules Bianchi." By the sounds of it, there is a real possibility that he might even set some quali laps slower than the GP2 boys.

F1 » Booth: Marussia 'very close' to Chilton deal

The Marussia team need to be congratulated on the pleasant manner in which they always talk to and about 'lil Maxxy. It must be genuinely so difficult to maintain that decorum when it is obvious to everyone that he possesses little more than skill than a neanderthal would in the cockpit. Sure, he has finished every race but that is only really due to being lucky in terms of reliability and because he is always so god dam far behind the other back markers. But, I suppose, it is good keeping him on in the fact that it further highlights Bianchi's skill.

F1 » Chilton set for December decision

This guy has some thick skin. If I was consistently a second slower than my teammate on flying laps and finishing every GP a few laps down, I would be in the depths of an embarrassment fueled depression - not trying to secure another 12 months of the torture. I'd love to hear what James Hunt's commentary on his situation and racing would be like...

F1 » Di Resta will consider options

Being an economist it always pains me to see the inefficiencies within the F1 driver selection system. It should be a true Dawinian survival of the fittest amongst the drivers but somehow these truly mediocre racers seem to be able to cling on for successive seasons without not even achieving a base line of consistency.

F1 » Massa joins Williams for F1 2014

I think everyone would be surprised with the amount of indirect money Massa brings to Williams and F1 as a whole. Having a Brazilian on the grid, regardless of the team is extremely important to F1 (by Bernie's own admission). Regardless, though, it is better to see Massa in a car than that meathead Maldonardo.

F1 » Magnussen in frame at McLaren?

They won't get rid of Button, regardless of how underwhelming he is. It would be to risky to do so with the changes happening next year as they need to retain at least one driver for continuity during this time. Plus, he can set up the car better than Perez. JB will not be driving a Honda powered Maclaren in 2015, though. It will only be money that keeps Sergio at Maclaren next year. They are ultimately in a pretty ****ty situation - massive rule changes, Mercedes and Red Bull dominance/money, and two very mediocre drivers.
