F1 » McLaren fails to reach driver decision

sfdjtim: This is really bad for McLaren's image and I'm sure they're losing respect from many... drivers, teams, media, fans, etc. McLaren is already one year behind the other teams so they would benefit more by having two very experienced and successful drivers to help develop the car as quickly as possible. I think the best solution for all parties involved is for McLaren to Sign Alonso and Button as race drivers and Magnusson as a test driver. Explained: a) Lock Alonso into a two year deal,.. don't let him just come in and leave right away. In or out, take it or leave it. Developing a car takes time, and consistency in data is best for the long game. b) Sign Button for a year, with a salary reduction. Button gets a clause that IF he comes out ahead of Alonso at the end of the year, he has an option to sign for one more. If not, he can then leave F1 with dignity and a rightful farewell. c) Keep Magnusson on as a test driver as he can learn from two world champions i

F1 » ‘Shouting loudly’ all that’s left for Button

Im a fan of JB. However is he still competitive - Yes! Does he still have the mindset for F1 - Yes! Is he still fit enough - Yes! Is he a better driver than Mag - Yes (at the moment) Is Alonso a better driver - probably Is Alonso worth 2-3 times more than Button - No way! My own opinion is that he is in the top 4 drivers in F1 at the moment. There are however some good new talent coming through. I also think he could do a lot for some other teams, Williams for one come to mind, however they made the mistake of signing Massa again (like the guy but hes always been an average driver in my mind). May have something to do with the sponsorship from Brazil. I do whoever think we'll see him at McLaren for another year due to his performance this year. Hes outscored and out qualified Mag and JB is not know for his Qualifying pace so what does that say about Mag. If he matches/beats Alonso you never know. If he looses out to Alonso, its a good buy.

F1 » Button calls on McLaren to ‘fight hard’

Buzz45: I note an air of confidence and affinity with the team all of a sudden. Does he know something good is about to happen? Wishful thinking maybe, but we will find out eventually.
Latest speculations doing the rounds today says K-mag may make way for Alonso and return to testing dutes, while Button will retain his race seat thanks to a significantly reduced remuneration demand.
That's what i thought when they announced Parfitt was leaving

F1 » ‘Nobody will miss’ Marussia, Caterham in F1 – Ecclestone

hes right and wrong Right: They need to manage there money, without a doubt. Wrong: You need these teams to test new drivers, engineers, mechanics and as feeders to the bigger teams The prize money needs to be more fairly distributed and there should be points for every race finishing position. The sports already 3 tier with Top, Middle and Bottom teams, so why not be clear about it and have a 2 tier Championship. I for one like to see more cars on the track. Even if its 3 cars per team, it would make things real interesting.

F1 » F1: Button revels in P4 amid future uncertainty

I think it all hangs on Hamilton signing another deal at Mercedes, if he does then Alonso will be at McLaren, if he doesn't then may be Alonso goes to Mercedes. The other aspect to consider that there could be 3 cars next year. Just imagine: Kimi, Vettel & button at ferrari? or Alonso, Mag & button at Mclaren Button defiantly has more years in him in F1 and is a better option than most of the current drivers.
