MotoGP » Marquez has first shot at Doohan record

I'm getting sick and tired of all the records being "made up" for Marquez to equalise or beat at each round. One weekend it's the first since Rossi....then it's the first since Doohan, then it's first in the modern era..... FFS why not have a big party because at Silverstone he was the FIRST Honda rider to win a race since Dani Pedrosa won at Brno the weekend before. I can appreciate the guy for being a talanted rider, I just don't need Dorna placing the guy up on a pedestal to be worshiped..

F1 » Hamilton 'relaxed' despite car problems

izybluffen: In Australia that product made by "Nulon" is called "start ya bastard" - you can actually buy this !!! Full Frontal did a sketch on "Wynns start you bastard" No kidding, Google it !!!
I remember that, just watched it again and got a laugh when they also showed the bottle of "For Christ's Sake, Come on!" for even more difficult to start engines.

MotoGP » Rainey to help run American road racing

The "problem" lies square at the manufacturers that thought charging 5+ times more for a road racing bike than an motorcross bike was a good idea. The price of a TZ250 compared to a YZ250 was rediculous. IF the manufactures would have sold their GP machines for the right price, there would have been a solid 125,250 and 500cc series in nearly every country around the world and the importers in each country would have supported it to the hilt. However seeing as they didn't sell many of those machines we've been forced to endure series after series of adhoc race classes of whatever popular road going machines are about at the time. Threre's no shortage of people wanting to throw a leg over a race bike.

MotoGP » Rossi: Marc’s wins the rider, mine the Honda...

Love him or hate him, the ONLY reason Rossi is sitting on a Factory Yamaha right now is because of the support from his fans. Those people that buy t-shirts, go to races in their yellow knickers and wave their yellow handbags, directly (and indirectly) put money into the pockets of the promotor and the team. Personally I don't understand "fan" mentality and never will, which is why I work in Engineering and not advertising or public relations. There's no argument that the "Rise of Rossi" has been great for business but I look back over the years of racing and now question how much of what I was shown was real and how much of it was stage managed? My personal opinion is that the racing ended with Mick Doohan and the the major characters for the new show had already been cast and just needed to be filtered in. In recent years one extra didn't follow the script so he didn't last too long.

F1 » F1 2014 driver salaries published – but who earns most?

I want to know how much the right rear wheel tyre remover gets. That's be a nice job. You stay on the garage side of pit lane and front left tyre is practically stopped as it goes past your station. All you have to do is pull the wheel off when the nut comes undone without clobbering the wheel gun operator. I could handle that...

MotoGP » Rossi: Concentration, studying every corner…

My point is, there're many cries that Honda's the best bike, Honda spend more money, Honda's blah blah blah but their results since Rossi left were p!ss poor at best, even when running 3 factory machines. Stoner showed the world what he could do on a bad bike, so his performance on the Honda was what you'd expect from him on a competitive bike but he wasn't walking away with every race in 2011 and it only took a bit of fiddling from Bridgestone with the tyres to royally stuff up Honda's start to the 2012 season. Some races it's clear MM is cruising while other races he's had to dig deeper than he'd like to put his machine in the #1 spot. The Yamaha isn't the dog that everyone keeps bleating on about if the "couldn't-do-a-thing-on-the-Ducati" Rossi, can be always on the podium with the Yamaha..

MotoGP » Rossi: Concentration, studying every corner…

shamarone: re: "The Honda is strong in every way" meanwhile, the Yamaha is WEAK in every way. sadly this is what we're seeing.
I still don't understand this, if it wasn't for Stoner and MM, Yamaha riders would have won every riders WC since 2008, and they placed 2nd and 3rd at the last GP. Rossi (an old has-been as some would argue) is also only 4 points behind Dani in the riders WC. Honda have had two very exceptional riders in the last few seasons...
