Greg Campbell1: I have a real hard time believing the rumor that this widget was mounted on a leaf spring. That's crude and obvious, and sounds like amateur hour-engineering, which RB does not (need to) do.
It sounds like it might be a part of the mechanism used to manually adjust the upper flap of the front wing. Presumably a spring loaded tensioner which could allow the flap to deflect under aero loads, reducing drag. Clever but naughty.

F1 » Alonso doesn’t expect to sit out 2015 F1 season


Brian Gaddis: I just have to throw this out there because I haven't seen it anywhere else - What are the chances Alonso could leave F1, like his pal Mark Webber, and spearhead a Ferrari Le Mans project? Think about it: the "two or three month" timeline Alonso talked about would be somehwat correct, Luca suggested a Ferrari Prototype was possible, and Alonso showed a special interest in this year's 24. Just a thought...
Well, I threw it out there about 4 hours before you did (see above) - for much the same reasons. There have been some rumours and perhaps fanciful renderings of a Ferrari LMP1 car floating about... would fit with his "best for Ferrari" comments... maybe come back to F1 in 2016, but perhaps to a sorted Mac/Honda... Fun to think about anyway

Suzuka 1994: Wet track, Morbidelli goes off, marshalls and a tractor attend the scene. Brundle hits a puddle and runs off at the same place, just misses the tractor but hits a marshall breaking his leg. 20 years later almost the same incident repeats, with a more severe outcome. Something is wrong! Closed cockpit is irrelevant - it would not have helped Bianchi, nor would it have helped any marshall now or in 1994. I do not think it appropriate to have cars travelling at race speeds while the track safety features are compromised, in this case having a 5 ton tractor in front of the tyre wall. Particularly on a wet track.
