MotoGP » Nicky Hayden visits WSBK

Oli: I hope Nicky goes to WSB and on a good bike, I think it'd be great for the series and I think he'd do well. Having said that, it'll still be a huge challenge for him. Been a while since anyone has gone from the middle order of MotoGP and been slotted straight into the front of WSB. De Puniet, Elias, Aoyama etc, have all struggled, and probably the last person to make the jump from the middle of the GP grid and win in WSB was Checa, and he took a couple of years to get going. I've always admired Nicky's grit and character though. If anyone from the current MotoGP grid is going to be good in WSB next year, it's him.
Hayden has an advantage because he came from Superbikes whereas De Puniet, Elias, and Aoyama all grew up racing 2 strokes.....

MotoGP » Smith: Seventh is difficult to swallow

SmokinHaddock: Nearly half way through the season and the championship positions are? SS58 - stop referring back to Moto2. Pol had a competitive bike, Smith had the most underdeveloped bike on the grid.
I seem to remember BS qualifying well and leading a few Moto2 races and then dropping back to 7th-9th where he is comfortable. Pol and BS both currently have underdeveloped bikes now (in a sense as a satellite team) and Pol proved last year that he was faster than BS and at the end of this year I believe we will see the same results. Is it the bike or the rider?

MotoGP » Smith: Seventh is difficult to swallow

cfsteezy: Smith will finish the season ahead of Pol and prove all the haters wrong. Funny how they come out of the woodwork once Pol finishes less than half a second ahead. Hardly a margin to bash Smith on. Thats about as equal as you can get if not better considering how much ground Smith made to Pol... Go smith! Too bad your a brit cuz the brits would actually support you if you were spanish or italian...
Your wrong on this. Pol has had a string of bad luck the first half of the season while Smith inherited his 5th places due to faster riders crashing out or mechanical failures. Pol has proved himself time again in Moto2 where Smith was a joke.

MotoGP » Rossi sizzles with record Assen pole

SuperSick58: Rossi is the G.O.A.T. My best race memory was at Philip Island (2001,2002?) when Rossi was leading on the 500's and he was black flagged. Rather than pull in for the penalty he stayed out there and went even faster and won the race by 15 seconds. Race officials docked him 10 seconds on his time which was the penalty but he still won the race....what a legend.
It was 2003 at Phillip Island and Rossi had already won the championship. They were the 990's and he got docked ten seconds for "passing on a yellow" with a little less than half way in the race. He upped his pace immensely and beat 2nd place Caparossi on a Ducati by about fifteen seconds to take victory with a ten second penalty pressed - GOAT.
Thanks for the clarification. I thought it was still the 500 era but I knew it was early 2000's
