MotoGP » Crutchlow leads opening Laguna Seca practice

"We need to find more speed". I don't know what this means when Valentino says this. No other rider says this. Vale was once hailed as setup king. This is not mean to happen to Valentino anytime at any track. What's the niggle with getting up to speed? Is part of him making it a show not to win for the sport to allow a changing of the guard? I suspect that's some of it. Win enough to please the fans but not enough that MotoGP gets boring for people wanting change.

MotoGP » US MotoGP, Laguna Seca - Free practice (1)

Let's take off these rose coloured Marquez glasses. I suppose long nights spent studying the track, memorising it and having your entire team take you through it multiple times to learn the braking points and gear changes has nothing to do with it? Nor the fact he's on a works machine already setup to perfection? Ben Spies showed identical speed at learning new tracks and performing on them, but let's not give other riders credit for their respective talent!

MotoGP » Rossi on Marquez: 'This b*stard will be fast at Laguna!'

@DB8, I guess a lack of fear because of incomprehensiveness about your own mortality causes you to take greater risks! All men know what the combination is like when you're 20. This is jumping ahead but I would love to see what Salom, Rin & Vinales can do for the sport when they eventually reach the top. By that time, Marquez will be plateuing and will become vulnerable.

MotoGP » Title leader Marquez faces Laguna Seca debut

@whammy, who cares? What's your point? Rossi's 'blown past' Marc also. The difference is their machine setup. Rossi was complaining about tyre slippage from the practice sessions, and by the end was left with a shredded tyre. You're comparing a multiple-time world champion who's 34 and returning from a 2-year hiatus from winning to a 20 year old who's just been granted the world on a gold platter for his taking. You cannot discuss talent on equal terms in such a situation.
