F1 » Raikkonen goes alternative for podium return

-**************************************************** some have said that kimi was helped by the brake issue the merc's had but he was much faster than rosberg and vettel, so the 2nd place was well deserved. he also managed the fastest lap. another 5 laps would have made for an interesting finish. vettel was in trouble even if he had not pitted for a new wing. rosberg was in fine form with his aggressive driving,. he will need more like this one if he hopes to close the gap to hamilton. last year was a bit of a snooze-fest but, this year is off to a great start.

F1 » Monaco Grand Prix – Qualifying results

titfortat: I think I've seen enough if Kimi now, he needs to go at the end of the season and admit he is well past it. Makes me wonder if Vettel/Alonso or Hamilton was in that Lotus a couple years back, maybe they'd have done a lot better.
kimi did alright in the lotus, it was a **** car and i don't think anyone else would have done much better

F1 » Maximum effort yields ‘maximum result’ for Raikkonen

some people have said that the safey car was the reason for kr 4th place. while he did not have a great start and the flat tire didn't help, clearly both ferraris had good speed and tire degradation. i think that had there been no such issues kr could have made the podium with seb, his romp thru the field seems to have proved it. expect the ferraris to be very competitive in china.

F1 » Maximum effort yields ‘maximum result’ for Raikkonen

ProfessorX:
MrJones85: I thought the same thing but, Martin Brundle from Sky says the Mercs are going to have the advantage again in Shanghai and that Malaysia was a tire specific track that suited Ferrari.
Martin Brundle was ignoring the 800 pound gorilla in the living room when he was trying to explain the affair. He conveniently omitted the fact that Harmilton's setup was ruined by Merc's lack of preparation on Friday. Of course in most people's world setup has nothing to do with tire degradation, and the Ferrari has some sort of magical ability to go 'easy' on it's tires. sigh. @csmith, I was happy to see erricson retire by parking it at the end of the straight. It's a shame about Sauber's current championship effort. They seem to be some sort of black hole sucking people down at the moment. Sauber are in debt with respect to karma.
of course setup has plenty to do with tire degradation. your right about merc and ham. prep. me

F1 » Vettel outfoxes Mercedes to win Malaysia thriller

richard:
MrJones85: Yes, but what of the safety car? Would the results have been different without it? Reading a lot of the comments on here make it seem like Mercedes just had a bad day with race strategy.
kimi was the only one who benefited from the sc, despite the questionable tactics of merc trying to back up the field. but it was little to do with race strategy. at all times vettel had the measure of the mercs on pure speed and ability.
i think kimi would have benefited even more without the sc! and the flat tire.

F1 » di Montezemolo admits 2014 line-up is ‘dangerous’

i assume alonso will play number 2 if kimi takes more points? don't think kimi will play the role of massa. they need to work as a team to beat rbr. if ferrari wanted another massa they would have kept him because he still has a few years left as a driver in his former capacity. they clearly hired kimi for wins, but we will see how it pans out next season.
