F1 » Grosjean praised for 'textbook' display

One wonders, though, how much motivation Kimi still has with a penned deal with the Red team, and still outstanding - and rightfully earned, performance bonuses? I know if I was moving on, and still owed paychecks - my give a damn to push 10/10ths just wouldn't be there. Conversely, the team would probably feel that they didn't need to give me their best either ..... Ah, break ups are always a bugger.

F1 » Kaltenborn crushes Barrichello speculation

Not a fan of Kaltenborn - even less so after the praise she gave Barri, ending with a wait and see ... then squashing what little hope there may have been for him. Appears moreso the tactics of a bully - rather than a team principle. Regardless - All good things must come to an end ... and Barri had some very good times over his 18 years in F1.

F1 » Hamilton vows to push hard

Seems everyone on this forum has the red mist descend, when their favourite driver has a punch thrown at him. Valid arguments take the back seat when the boasting starts, and even those lacking tact do - at times, have valid points. Thankfully, my idol drivers are either dead or retired - though I do admit to having a penchant for Raikonnen.......... So leave him alone or I'll burn all your houses down!!!!

F1 » Button calls for greater driver weight limit

I can completely empathize. When I was racing karts, 350lbs was the line for Nationals. I was much heavier, being taller and more muscular. When having to diet excessively to even hope to be competitive, I always had friends and family asking if I was sick - as I used to get so thin. Those few pounds overweight meant the difference of a podium or a top 5 through 10. Nothing more frustrating than being in totally equal equipment, putting the power down at the exact same time as your competitor and just watch him start leaving you behind, and there was not a thing you could do about it. Club racing in my normal Masters class, the club allowed us old fat guys 375lbs, and the resulting allowance almost always ended in a podium for me.

F1 » Hamilton dismayed by Singapore setbacks

The really good drivers don't really point fingers - really. I've always found that disappointing in Hamilton - you want to believe that on merit, he is above placing blame, but on quite a regular basis reminds us to the contrary. Seems he always has to get that dig in ... sure he has some praise thereafter ... but there is always that punch to the throat.

F1 » Business as usual for Vettel at Monza

How do we know that Webber's performances aren't the true indicators of the redbulls pace and Vettel is just driving beyond the car? - bobsmyname I get what you're saying, but conversely, how do we not know that Webber is just driving within the limits of Webber - and not at the capacity of the Red Bull he is given? I like Webber - and no way is he a slouch, agreed .... but he's Massa, or Barichello, or insert that really nice guy that you always want to pull for but deep down you know they just don't have that killer instinct to pull it off and become World Champion - driver.
