RR » Michael Dunlop to ride factory Yamaha in 2015

windyman: Micky d has the riding ability, we all know that, but look at the specs . of the new ri.it has a very short wheelbase and steep steering angle plus a lot of power, not the best combination for bumpy road circuits.yamaha themselves are touting the bike as a road going m 1 (quick steering, not too stable at high speed) and as the options for modification are limited under the rules, I think they may have problems with this bike. The old R1 had big handling problems on fast road circuits, (ask conor and william!) And this bike is even more radical.
Windyman, you appear to know a lot on the technical side of the new R1 and I am not all that technical hence my earlier posting I talked about the package that would be brought to assist Mickey D to win the two big ones at the TT. I have doubts about the overall package required, but, no better man than in Mickey D to ride it. A lot of testing needs to be done and a few of real road races would be of assist

RR » Farquhar confirms Superbike return at Isle of Man TT

More than suprised at this as Ryan was very clear in his mind and for family reasons he was hanging up his leathers, which, after a long career was I believe the correct decision. He must not be completely happy just to run his own team for others to ride his bikes in that he olso has to be part of the rider makeup. Is this down to the rider drug of riding or is there an additional finincial side to it and if the latter is the case then you are playing with fire. it's Ryan's choice and the best of luck to him, however, in my view he has had a long career and should retire. You can overstay your welcome in this game. Different if he was a single man.

Tetley, I am not so confident Micky D can win on the Yamaha and I feel that Guy can do it on the BMW. Micky D is the better rider at the TT , but, has Shaun Muir got the correct winning package for his rider.? I don't think so and past evidence would suggest that. I hope he hasn't just signed the contract for the biggest cheque.!!!!!. However I wish him the very best of luck.

Yamaha have the rider in Miicky D but will Micky D have the machinery. I must say I would be more confidient if MD was on yhe BMW or the Green Bike. Backup is going to very important here and machine staying power. MD surely has done his homework or he would not have signed the contract. I guess we will know a bit more at the , and hope dry, NW 200. I will follow my fellow posters with a lot of interest.
