I can't see a WDC happening but he's certainly got the pace for better results - he just needs to be more consistent and have cleaner races. He got involved in far too many shunts this year. While most weren't his fault, a driver of his experience should anticipate a little better. Williams need to actually believe they can win as well, too often you get the impression they just want to stay out of trouble.

I agree with Richard ref the Renault struggles and subsequent recovery of reliability so I can't say I'm surprised at 3 laps. the question is what will McLaren produce for 2015? They did a fantastic job negating the performance advantage of the Merc PU in 2014 so why would anything change with a Honda PU? Hopefully for them Prod will be able to put some good aero on the car. The ongoing ****dance over driver line up suggests organisation within the team might be the real issue...

. Imagine if Button beat him - pricked ego & toys would really be chucked out of the pram then. Alonso wants the clear #1 status in the team and a weaker team-mate who will defer to him on every occasion.
Surely Alonso would have the same issue if KMag does a Ricciardo next year then? Didn't look like Kimi was in a mood to defer on Sunday.. Hamilton and Button co-existed pretty well, I see no reason why Alonso and Button wouldn't do likewise. I'm not sure the Alonso you see today is still the same one from 2007.

Bradenws: When Alonso moved to Ferrar,i he was known for some reason as a vaunted test driver, worth as much as "a whole second" in car development. .
I suspect that was PR on his side to justify the salary. We've seen no evidence of it any stage - the '05 Renault had a few trick bits like the mass damper, nothing to do with Alonso - he just drove the wheels off it. I'm not so sure the drivers really make so much difference in development these days - sure, they have to give clear feedback on grip, deg and balance, and express a set-up direction and so on but I think the Lauda / Prost / Senna days of really pushing the development direction are long gone. There is such a huge amount of data available to engineers now that the whole thing is numbers led from the off. I think Kimi's work this year is unlikely to have made the actual package inherently faster, I think he's just been focussing on getting the front end feel he needs (just like 2012) to get his ca
