F1 » Vettel expects ‘a hard time’ from Ricciardo

I think Seb's just covering his ar*e and putting a friendly front on things. He'll learn from Ricciardo all right - learn all he needs to ensure he stays in front! Helmut Marko's dislike of Webber was well known but Sebs speech at the Autosport awards suggests Helmut still gives him plenty of grief behind the scenes, so I expect Ricciardo will also get his fair share of 'motivational' chats..

F1 » Lotus performances hurt Kovalainen chances

Gotta feel a bit for Heikki there - just goes to show how difficult it is now to be parachuted into a new car and deliver, even for someone of his experience. That said, he's had a fair crack at the whip over the years and driven some decent machinery. I thought he'd annihilate Petrov in 2012 but it didn't happen. Probably time to move on to sportscars.

F1 » Former rally boss set to lead Lotus?

Lotus are £114mil in debt, maybe a little less now after Maldonado's arrival but I suspect people have departed because they weren't getting paid enough or at all. Quantum turned out to have the substance of a passing cloud, dreamt up by a character with extensive experience in fraud. So given the circumstances, Quesnel is probably a relatively economical choice.

F1 » Ecclestone tips Rosberg for title

It's an interesting one. Was it coincidence was it that Nico got 67 laps more running than Lewis, or is Nico the better development driver? I know Lewis lost the front wing but I wouldn't expect that to put him 67 laps behind in a test. Ross Brawn's interview at the Hall of Fame awards recently suggested that Lewis needed to apply himself more so it begs the question. I don't care who bags the WDC but I think Lewis has a slight edge over a lap while Nico appears more consistent, particularly out of the car.

F1 » Boullier joins McLaren

"The Frenchman will take up the role of racing director.........reporting to the team's new CEO...with former team principal Ron Dennis at the top of the management tree as chairman and CEO of the entire McLaren Group. Until the new team CEO is appointed, Jonathan Neale will fill the role." Christ, McLaren have got more managers than Tesco. What an olympic level ****dance. Ron should take a leaf out of RBR's book and clean up the whole thing properly. No need for another CEO, just get Boullier to run it like a racing team, report to the Ron and be done. I'm sure Jonathan Neale, Sam Michael and Martin Whitmarsh can make themselves more useful elsewhere in the wider McLaren behemoth. Or Tescos.
