MotoGP » Jerez Testing Times - Thursday

Damn, to see both MotoGP and WSBK bikes on track at once would be a dream! I know Superbikes are more quiet, but to hear growling Desmosedici and then screaming CBR or Panigale twin... damn! BTW, Nicky Hayden is (on CBR) only 1 second off his 2015 Jerez qualifying time (on RC213V-RS) and 0.2 seconds faster than his best race lap time!

WSBK » 2016 WSBK – Rider line-up so far

Michael ESDAILE: The secret to rebuilding competitor and spectator interest is to have as many local teams as possible contesting their 'home' rounds. That was what got the series firing in 1988 and it built from there. But then the Flaminis decided they wanted 'Superbike MotoGP' , the costs skyrocketed and local team participation in 'home' rounds declined.
Agreed. But that's what I thought the EVO rules are for. To bring WSBK bikes closer to national championships, so local riders will participate again. It didn't work out apparently.

WSBK » 2016 WSBK – Rider line-up so far

StrangeRanger: I think a lot of the smaller teams are simply waiting on decisions by Suzuki and Aprilia and for SMR and Red Devils Roma to announce their plans and then they'll go looking for the best deals they can get from the manufacturers and best riders that are available to sign. As to Dorna, they have tried to reduce the costs for the customer teams and the technological advantages held by the factories with the intent of leveling the playing field and creating more entries. To date it has not worked out as they hoped. What is strange to me is that the BSB field is packed to overflowing and the top half a dozen teams could readily compete at the WSBK level but other than Muir have chosen not to do so.
IIRC, Mr. Pedercini once (even before EVO rules) said that WSBK bikes are fairly cheap. It still seems that you can't do much without factory support, which is not a good thing. Maybe Dorna should look at BSB for an inspiration.
