WRC » Latvala wins Rally Sweden for third time

What a confidence boster for JML. and then to cap it off with power stage points to really stuff it to his arrogant team mate. Well done Jari. You always get the sense when JML is in a good positon that he will make a mistake but this was a mature drive. Lets hope it continues. Realisticaly, he is the only person who has a chance of competeing with Oigier. Hirvonen seems to have lost a few seconds. Neuville will make the odd crash trying to get the speed out of a Hyundai that doesnt seem the finished article yet. The other drivers are also rans with a couple of them who will pick up a good result now and then. VW are streets ahead. Citroen have a good car but will steadily move away from rallying. M Sport dont have the funds to compete right at the top and I fear Hyundai will be like their last time in WRC. Just not fast enough. I hope I am proved wrong about Hyundai though.

WRC » New Peugeot 208 T16 to make debut in Italy

Dafydd Its obvious that M sport have stolen the march. But I dont think that will reflect on how many T16s or DS3s are sold. It will really depend on how good they are. The first signs for the T16 were not all that good in m opinion. Anderucci could only manage 3rd last weekend vs a RRC and a S2000. Ok, Im sure he was learning and bedding in but there is no better way to market than to make an instant impact. thats exactly what ford done with the S2000 when it won the Monte first time out. Lets see how Craig Breen does in it on the acropolis and the circut of kerry in 2 weeks. I expect Skoda will set the benchmark for R5 when they get their car out

WRC » Hirvonen shows potential

@ general. That is a little bit harsh. I think it was 09 that he should have won drivers championship. there was 1pt between him and loeb going to GB. He should have been more ahead and would have won the championship with the way GB results. The problem was in Poland that year, JML, crashed out of second place on the final stage with a stupid mistake. Loeb got more points than he was on target for and the rest as they say is history. But overall, I tend to agree. Not driver champion material. He was a great no.2 driver. Both for Gronholm at ford and his first year with Citroen for Loeb. I would have thought a team managers perfect driver cos he was consistent and always gathered manufactuers points.

WRC » Latvala eyes 'at least' a podium in Sweden

Guys. He was won Sweden twice. 2008 and 2012. Its a little dissapointing that he is only speaking of a podium. It just goes to show how his confidence is battered. From years of crashes and mishaps to be well and truely beaten by his team mate last year. With his speed and 9 rally sweden starts with 2 wins, he ought to be favourite for victory. I just hope that secretly he believes this himself. Politically he may not be able to say this as Oigier would prob throw the toys out of the pram if his no.2 was talking of beating him. On this rally, I really believe that JML has the beating of Oigier. It would be great to see and a huge boost for JML.

WRC » Hirvonen shows potential

@Dafydd. That is not a bad suggestion from you for a change. If Ford do decide to come back and they will need a top driver to compete. The real top guys are very few. Maybe a mature JML might be the man for the job. Oigier and Neuville are tied up as team number 1's. Although, I dont think Neuville knows the meaning of the word loyalty. If JML drives of '14 are a sign of a new maturity, then maybe he can do it. 1 or 2 swallows dont make a summer though. What about Essapaki Lappi? Some of the WRC teams are bound to snap him up soon. Other than that, there are good driver around but none that will challenge Oigier consistantly.

WRC » Strong sixth on Rallye Monte Carlo

Ok, before I start, I have great time for Elfyn. He is a very good driver and seems to have a cool head go with it. My only conern is that the statements in the blog and interviews through the rally are all similar to what a certain young 5 year development driver was saying in his first year Ultimately we all know how that turned out. I think Elfyn is a far better driver but when the time comes to be let off the leash, I just hope he can step out of the "finish at all costs - just within the top 10" mentality. If people keep in his ear with this kind of talk,it will set in and then it may be too late. Im not saying he should go flat out but I hope that this year when he is in the top 5 somewhere and is well prepared for an event that someone says "ok son, lets go for it". Its different times to when Colin rallied but do you think he would have coasted around finishing rallies when he is was young blooded with one of the best rally cars in the world under his ass Finland '92 anyon

WRC » M-Sport reveals 2014 livery

Dafydd. If what you say about the Qatar money is true and I have no reason to doubt you, then in my opinion, the branding stil being there is just sloppy and unprofessional. Its like something you would see on a clubmans car after he has bought it and he didnt have time for a new paint job or decals before his first rally in the car. At WRC level something like that is unacceptable. I also have to disagree with you on the driver situation. There is no way Neuville is at Oigiers level yet. Im not an Oigier fan cos I think he is arrogant and blunt but the guy is a class act. No doubt he has the best car too. Maybe on a given day or a single stage Neuville or JML can be faster but when it comes to winning rallies and being consistent, Oigier is head and shoulders above the rest. I dont wish it on anyone but I hope he has a few problems this year so the championship is exciting. Just seen the shakedown results and if they are an indication, the hyundai is going to struggle. Lets hope no
