F1 » Stewart urges F1 to ‘respect its heritage’

Mutaito: Silver stone, monaco, and maybe spa is all f1 needs unless they go back to the full ring. I say go to Asia and the Middle East where there is growth potential for the sport.
"Growth potential" because a few very rich people/corporations like F1. They will eventually tire of plowing money into it as there is no massed fan base to back it up. I'm pretty sure even the gnasty gnome doesn't like the TV picking up the empty grandstands of Malaysia, China, etc. You can take the sport to the people, but you can't take the people to the sport. Maybe we do need two F1 series, one for the East and one for West, then the top 6 from each series have a 3 round race of champions at the season end.

F1 » Stewart urges F1 to ‘respect its heritage’

dickiebird:
Jim Clausen: continuation: One of the saddest days ever, for me, was the news of Cal Rayborn's death. I believe he was riding a Suzuki that seized and he slammed into an Armco barrier.
Yes, but Cal was just one of many Jim. Pasolini, Saarinen, Tordi, Bucherini, Stadelman, Chevalier and on and on and on. During the 8 short years I was involved in M/C GP racing, we lost 38 riders, mostly as a result of Stewart's so called "safety" measures. Think about that, That's twice the entire F1 field. It was a killing field out there.
I'm not old enough to remember, but who was the motorcycling world champion(s) of the time that stood up like Sir Jackie and demanded safety measures?

F1 » F1: FIA pursues legal action over Streiff's Bianchi comments

Let's not forget that the rule makers were complicit by failing to act on their own knowledge that drivers were/are not slowing sufficiently during yellow flag periods. They had the power to do something about this long before poor Jules misguided incident. And while I agree that each driver is in control of their car, young - impressionable - drivers like Jules have probably been watching the old hands thinking it's not just de rigueur but is absolutely critical.
