F1 » F1 ‘going to Azerbaijan’ – Ecclestone

andrew2k: F1 need to drop all street circuits(including monaco) from the calendar as they are too slow, processional make for extremely dangerous situations and most importantly lack any real overtaking.
I'm OK with Monaco because of it's history and importance in F1. However, the idea of a London city street GP, when there are more than enough suitable purpose built circuits in the UK, many of which have their own rich history ... THAT is a stupid idea. Having races in countries that have so little motosport history and relevance that there are no suitable circuits to race at, so scrounging up a street circuit instead ... ANOTHER stupid idea.
Perfectly stated. Sadly, for some reason unbeknownst to us, every racing series out there is absolutely obsessed with staging these ridiculous street parades. The races are financially unsustainable, and not to mention most of them suck entertainment wise. Yet, series organizers j

F1 » Ecclestone responds to NASCAR criticism

superdowg316: The NASCAR criticism is undeserved. No, we're not a bunch of hillbillies. I'm Aussie and I find NASCAR to be really good. There are BS calls here and there, but there's still actual racing going on and the commentators are still talking about the race. Sunday's Daytona 500 had around 30+ lead changes alone. I think the comparison to F1 is bad really. It's like comparing V8 Supercars to IndyCars, it's two different series. And, more importantly, shut up and enjoy racing, not b*tch about which one is better.
Although they're different forms of racing, the criticism that gets thrown Nascar's way is completely warranted. When your race outcomes are contrived and artificially manufactured then you pretty much lose all credibility. Continuous phantom yellows, excessive time under caution, the Aaron's lucky dog rule, and Green/White/Checkers make the series indefensible. I don't get how you can watch a series with as awesome of racing as the V8 Supe

And that's a good thing? One of the things I don't like about nascar is the continuous stream of overtaking from start to finish, I'd rather watch 2 great overtakes in an F1 race than 200 predictable passes in a nascar race.
Yes, those DRS overtakes are spine tingling.
No, they're not. But is the Aaron's Lucky Dog rule, the phantom yellows, or Green/White/Checker any better? I thought so..
