Isn''t there a typo here - shouldn''t it read "Puig ruins Repsol Honda."

Spies: I may not be leaving soon
1 agrees.
Guys - this is a thread about Spies, WSB and not rushing into Motogp - plus this rule change. It's not about Casey Stoney who btw who himself a new BMW today - I think he has some talent !

Spies: I may not be leaving soon
2 agree.
"....The move was unveiled today by Dorna boss Carmelo Ezpeleta and FIM chief Vito Ippolito during a special press conference at the Jerez circuit in Spain." So there you have it. Edwards and Toseland are both WSB champs - but they are setting Motogp on fire. Would SPies on a privateer bike be any different - really ??

Spies: I may not be leaving soon
7 agree.
The Truth is correct if the following report on the MCN website is correct: "Ben Spies or Marco Simoncelli will be barred from moving to MotoGP and riding for a factory team in their rookie campaign under controversial new rules on entry to the premier class. Fiat Yamaha, Repsol Honda or Marlboro Ducati will be banned from hiring the likes of Texan Spies or reigning world 250GP champion next season. Instead, they will have to sign for an independent team for their rookie campaign, effectively ending the open rider market in MotoGP. The move comes to try and help independent teams like Tech 3 Yamaha, Gresini Honda and LCR Honda attract more sponsors with big name riders. 2nd bit to follow

Whitham: Ben Spies is the real deal!
ZX10Rob As has been said before Whitham is a Yorkshireman and they do speak with a specific accent. You cannot say he has a traditional english accent but it is nonsense to say that. He doesn't sound like someone from London nor Manchester nor Wales nor Scotland. But they speak English in Scotland. It is an obsession Americans have about 'english accents' and its really dumb. If you want to compare accents, listen to Whitham and then Tom Sykes. They are from the same part of Yorkshire - less than 10 miles apart !

WSS: Ten Kate keen to get hands on '09 bike
2 agree.
What - the favoured almost factory Ten Kate team are not running the 2009 bike and that tiny Parkalgar outfit are ? If I was Ronald Ten Kate - I would be livid - Ten Kate are the WSS champions and shouldn't be on a year old bike ! What is going on ??

Spies doubles up in Qatar
1 agrees.
1 disagrees.
Djen - until Mladin proves himself outside of the comfort zone of the AMA with its limited depth - you can hardly call him one of the best 2 superbike riders in the world. Spies has taken the leap and I am really pleased (like many others) to say yes - he's something really special. Mladin - what are you afraid of - please get yourself a ride in 2009 and become the new Bayliss!

Sykes targets podium after top five breakthrough
3 agree.
Build a step at a time Tom - you may well be the top Brit in time - a dark horse - as few very mentioning your name compared with Rea, Byrne, and Haslem

Haga happy to cling onto slimming advantage
2 agree.
7 disagree.
On current form - doesn't look good for Nitro - coming second in every race to Spies will not win Norri the title. And that Aprillia will take valuable points off the Ducati. Just hope it doesn't become a one horse race. Spies is very impressive though

Spies takes charge in Qatar
2 agree.

Good for Ben - nice to have someone new coming in and shaking things up. Haga has been around long enough to win the championship - this will really test him. Like Tony - you can't award a championship on 2 races and a qualifying session. Lets see how he pans out after another 5-6 rounds. Now Motogp - if I was Spies I would want a full production bike - a Tech3 Yam is not the real deal - satellite bikes don't win championships. You just get the impression politics would get in the way of getting that ride. Rossi would not want a team mate who could beat him and would Yamaha want a head-to-head between 2 good riders ????
