BUSCH: Edwards not Champ... yet.

Nextel Cup Series rookie David Reutimann managed to keep Carl Edwards' championship champagne on ice for at least one more week after he won a bad tempered, crash-filled Sams Town 250 Busch Series race at the three-quarter mile Memphis Motorsports Park.

Almost by virtue of just staying out of trouble in a race that witnessed an incredible 25 caution periods, most for accidents, and a rash of driving penalties from NASCAR, Reutimann earned his first career Busch win and the first for his team boss Michael Waltrip since his switch to the new Toyota Camry.

Reutimann, who failed to qualify for Sunday's Pep Boys 500 Nextel Cup race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, came into Saturday's event more than 600 points behind Edwards with just four races remaining but even though Edwards only needed an eighth place finish to sew up the series title, he was unable to stay out of the carnage and could only finish 25th.

With the majority of the regular Busch-whackers choosing to stay away and focus on proceedings in Atlanta, Saturday's race gave the series regulars more of an equal footing with Mike Bliss chasing Reutimann the hardest to claim second.

Reutimann's Cup Series rookie rival David Ragan finished third with Marcos Ambrose and Jason Leffler rounding out the top five. Scott Wimmer, Jamie McMurray series veteran Jason Keller and Brad and Brian Keselowski completed the top ten.

Scotland's Dario Franchitti endured a tough Busch Series debut for after qualifying third finished 32nd after several incidents.

Although Reutimann brought Edwards' series lead down to 531 points, with just three races remaining Edwards will be confirmed as champion next weekend at Texas provided he starts the race.
