Reutimann starts fast in Texas

Once again David Reutimann showed his intermediate track prowess as he set fastest time in the opening Sprint Cup practice session of the weekend in Texas.

In his second weekend behind the wheel of the #44 Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota Reutimann turned a best lap of 28.653-seconds (188.462mph) around the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway as he bids to return the #44 team back to the top 35 in the owner standings.

The second year Cup driver, who fell out of the top 35 in owner points after a tough outing in Martinsville, edged out the Roush-Fenway Ford of Carl Edwards and the Hendrick Chevrolet of last November's Texas winner Jimmie Johnson in the first practice of the Samsung 500 weekend.

Edwards' teammate Matt Kenseth and the leading Joe Gibbs entry of Kyle Busch completed the top five in the session with Greg Biffle (Roush-Fenway), Ryan Newman (Penske), Casey Mears (Hendrick), David Ragan (Roush-Fenway) and Martinsville winner Denny Hamlin (Gibbs) the remainder of the top ten.

Jeff Gordon, who has yet to win a race at the Texas Motor Speedway, was the slowest of the four Hendrick cars in 16th place on the timesheets but still well ahead of defending Samsung 500 winner at current series points leader Jeff Burton, who was only 39th fastest of the 46 teams in attendance.
