The first visit of the year to the one-mile Dover International Speedway saw Greg Biffle claim pole position around the bumpy, steeply banked, concrete surfaced oval nicknamed the 'Monster Mile.'

Biffle, who has played second fiddle to Kasey Kahne in each of the last two weekend's, left no doubt as to his intentions as well as those of his #16 Roush-Fenway Racing team as he blitzed the rest of the Sprint Cup field by nearly two tenths of a second to take his second Coors Light pole award of what has been a winless season thus far for the driver who currently sits eleventh in the points table.

Biffle stopped the clocks in a time of 23.193-seconds (155.219mph) on his qualifying run, nearly two tenths of a second and two miles per hour faster than Penske Racing's Kurt Busch, who will join Biffle on the front row of the Best Buy 400, an event benefiting the Autism Speaks campaign.

Busch's #2 Dodge narrowly edged his younger brother Kyle for second place on the grid with Kyle's #18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota joined by Jimmie Johnson's #48 Hendrick Chevrolet on row two giving each one of NASCAR's four competing manufacturers a share of the front two rows.

Biffle's Roush-Fenway teammate Jamie McMurray was next in line and will share the third row of the grid with the Red Bull Toyota of Brian Vickers with the second Hendrick Chevrolet of Jeff Gordon and the second Red Bull Toyota of the rejuvenated AJ Allmendinger on row four.

Elliott Sadler and the returning Jeremy Mayfield completed the top ten with Mayfield's effort in Chip Ganassi's #40 Dodge an especially sweet moment for the existing Dover track record holder.

Allmendinger and Mayfield comfortably sealed two of the eight non-guaranteed places on the 43 car grid with Sam Hornish Jr (16th), Bill Elliott (24th), JJ Yeley (27th), Joe Nemechek (31st) and Patrick Carpentier (36th) also making the cut.

Matt Crafton, subbing for the Baja 1000 bound Robby Gordon, qualified 41st but will hand over to Gordon on raceday while the 43rd and final place on the grid went to the #34 Front Row Motorsports Chevrolet of Tony Raines, who qualified for his first race of the year in place of John Andretti, whose Indycar exploits will continue for at least another fortnight.

Jason Leffler and Chad McCumbee both failed to qualify with Leffler missing the cut in the #70 Haas CNC Racing entry and McCumbee missing out as he deputises for Kyle Petty.
