TRUCKS: Speed takes first win

In just his sixth NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start former Red Bull F1 driver Scott Speed visited Victory Lane for the first time since turning his back on the single seater scene with victory in the AAA Insurance 200 at the Dover International Speedway.

Speed overcame the challenges of the infamous one-mile concrete oval at Dover nicknamed the 'Monster Mile' to take advantage of a rare problem for series frontrunner Kyle Busch and comfortably beat a host of series veterans to the chequered flag.

Speed led the majority of the second half of Friday's 200-lap race and was virtually untouchable once Busch, who has dominated the races he has entered this year, struck transmission problems.

Despite a late caution period Speed romped home with a three second margin over series veterans Jack Sprague and Ron Hornaday with Cup Series regular Travis Kvapil, Matt Crafton, David Starr, Mike Skinner, Colin Braun, championship leader Rick Crawford and Johnny Benson completing the top ten.

Busch was eventually classified 27th after his team finally made repairs and he now slips to 16th in the points table having missed two of the eight races so far in 2008. Speed, who has also missed two races, now sits 24th overall.
