Danica Patrick consummately and impressively proved the Doubting Thomases wrong with a gutsy and composed performance on her stock car debut in the ARCA Racing Series' Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona Beach

Hardly surprising she has done well, give her a bit of practice and she would drive circles around the best that Nascar has. You could teach a monkey to drive around in circles, just show them the basics of drafting.
FYI, Windsor expressed interest in Patrick as a PR/Publicity stunt...not for her skill level, whilst she could easily beat the best that Nascar has (so could my Grandma after a bottle of Scotch), she would have floundered in F1. Horses for courses, she is a great driver, and a fine lookin filly let's keep her in Nascar where she can show those hilbilly how to race...Go Danica!!...

Very ignorant statement. First off it was an ARCA race, which is a series NOT sanctioned by NASCAR (great reporting crash) and the caliber of drivers in ARCA is nowhere near the level of those in NASCAR.

If it was that easy why isn't Montoya kicking ass week in, week out? And I'm a big fan of Dario Franchitti but the less said about his foray into NASCAR the better.

It's really is NOT that easy. You just make yourself sound like an elitist pillock

Montoya was, at best, a mediocre F1 driver, never won a championship despite having the best cars, he did have brief moments of brilliance, but VERY brief. He was ok on the Target car prior to that, but so was everyone else who sat in it such was its dominance back then, it vaulted him into F1 but he never performed and just worsened until he was booted out and into Nascar where, with minimal effort he could make a halfway decent performance and continue making $$$ despite having the personality of a wet flanel. Danica is more motivated, talented and charming, she will wipe the floor with Montoya and all the others in and out of their billboard clunkers.

This is a pretty pointless discussion. Your just going to skew the facts anyway that can support your argument that NASCAR is a price of piss.

Montoya won 7 GP's in F1. You don't do that by being mediocre. Sure he was far from the best, but he is pretty handy behind the wheel and was pretty competitive while in F1. Surely that puts him way above "any monkey" as you put it.

I like Patrick. I think she gets a lot of crap considering she has to compete directly with men (unlike most sports) and I really hope she does well in stock cars. But moving to Nationwides/Sprint Cup is a whole new level from ARCA. That will be the real test of her ability.

JPM won 7 races in almost 100 starts, at least 2 seasons of which he was in the very best car, constantly outperformed by his teammates....no comparison, Danica is in a league of her own on this side of the Atlantic.....F1 is the pinnacle of the sport, people are desperate to use the Montaya example to prove that Nascar drivers can beat F1 drivers..a silly comparison, even if Montoya was ever good, he is washed up and semi-retired now...smart move though to chill out in Nascar making big $$$ for little effort.
I hope Danica will excel in Nascar, she has the all-round package to succeed at that level. I would even watch a race out of curiousity, I will be rooting for her!
