Hopes that Juan Montoya and Ryan Newman might be able to bury the hatchet after their on-track spat last week at Richmond were dashed after an attempted peace summit ended in acrimony.

Motor racing is dangerous enough without drivers deliberately using their cars as weapons. Any more incidents between these two this season and NASCAR should ban the instigator.

Montoya's failure in F1 can largely be put down to too much aggression and too little thought, and he seems to be a slow learner.
