NASCAR has announced that Carl Long has been suspended for the next twelve NASCAR Sprint Cup events following a series of rule infractions committed during last weekend's race meeting at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Long and the #146 team were found to have broken a series of rules after the ending in car was found to exceeded the maximum specifications as laid down in the regulations.

As a result, Long - as well as wife and team owner Danielle Long - has been banned for twelve races, docked 200 points, suspended from NASCAR until 18 August and placed on probation until the end of the year.

Crew chief Charles Swing was hit with the same penalty and also handed a fine of $200,000.
