One of Monday's big gainers at Pocono was third-place finisher Clint Bowyer, who hasn't yet given up on a position in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

Bowyer gained one spot, to 15th, in the standings and now trails twelfth-placed Greg Biffle by 115 points with five races left before the Chase field is set.

An astute call by crew chief Shane Wilson to keep Bowyer on the track, and in the lead, with 42 laps left made the difference to his result, as Bowyer gained enormous track position over other drivers who later made pit-stops on lap 167.

"We need these top fives to try to fight our way back into the Chase," Bowyer admitted, "I'm really proud of Shane Wilson and all the guys for digging deep and sticking with it and making a good call there at the end."

More than picking up a spot, Bowyer moved from 151 points to 115 outside the top twelve.

"You can see it - it's just a long way out," he said of a Chase spot, "It's a long road to go yet, but I feel like we can do it. We've got some good tracks coming up."
