“Like maybe if he's right in front of me, he'll let me have a spot or something like that,” Hamlin mused, “but I doubt he's going to take out guys I need him to take out! I think he has some scores to settle with some guys that I don't think he'll be too shy about doing now, though.”
Martin, meanwhile, has confirmed that he has extended his agreement to drive the #5 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports until the end of 2011. GoDaddy.com has signed on as the primary sponsor for the Arkansas native's car next year.
“Yeah, we're signed through 2011,” stated the 50-year-old, with four victories to his name from the first 26 races of 2009. “That shouldn't come as any big surprise. Who'd want to quit?”
Derrike Cope and Dexter Bean failed to qualify for the 43-car field.
