Off the track with Casey Mears

Casey Mears gives an insight into life away from the Sprint Cup
My first car was…
a Dodge Dakota. It was a pickup. My dad actually used it to race at Pikes Peak, and when they were done with it, I repainted it and put some wheels and tires on it.

My dream car is…
a '49 Cadillac or a '48 Buick.

I change my oil every…
I haven't changed my oil personally in a while, but I used to do it all the time.

Hybrids are…
great. I've got a (Chevrolet) Tahoe hybrid that I drive right now.

I got my last speeding ticket…
in Phoenix, and it was those damn lights — those damn cameras — that get you. I can't remember what it was, but my picture was on it. I haven't gotten a “legitimate” speeding ticket for a long time, but cameras — I've gotten a couple in Arizona.

On a scale of 1-10, my highway road rage rating is…
I'd say I'm about a 3. I'm pretty mellow. I think we're fortunate to get a lot of that out of our systems on the racetrack, so when I'm driving on the street, I'm pretty laid-back.

I wouldn't be caught dead in…
a Gremlin.
