Red Horse Racing has announced the addition of Nelson Piquet Jr. to its stable of drivers for the 2010 Camping World Truck Series season.
Piquet Jr. will pilot the #1 Toyota Tundra in the season opener at Daytona International Speedway.
The former Formula 1 driver has already participated in two tests for Red Horse Racing and heads to Daytona having competed in the ARCA event at the venue last weekend.
“I'm very excited!” he said. “The size of the Daytona track is amazing. I can't wait to reach 200mph side-by-side in a tight drafting pack of trucks! The plans for the season are coming together really well. I can't wait to get out on track and start my NASCAR career!”
Managing partner of Red Horse, Tom DeLoach, said the team was delighted with the move.
“We have closely observed Nelson in our testing and believe he has a great future in NASCAR,” he said. “He exhibits excellent car control, gives good feedback, but needs the side by side experience. He'll get plenty of that in Daytona!
“Nelson has a huge international following which hopefully will attract a race partner for the team.”
