Kevin Harvick celebrated "One down one to go!" with victory in the Good Sam RV Emergency Road Service 125 Camping World Truck Series race at Pocono Raceway on Sunday morning.

The race had started on Saturday afternoon and managed to complete 17 laps before the rain closed in and forced a red flag. When conditions did not improve, the race was postponed until 9am on Sunday morning making it a very busy day indeed for those drivers like Harvick and Kyle Busch who were doing double duty in this and the Cup race due to start at 1pm.

Earlier on Saturday, Harvick had claimed pole position in qualifying just 0.13s ahead of his arch-rival Busch, with the second row comprised of former F1 driver Nelson Piquet Jr. alongside Parker Kligerman, who had earlier been released by Penske Racing from being on standby to substitute for the injured Brad Keselowski at the Nationwide event in Iowa.

The rain came down just 13 laps into the unusually short 50 lap sprint race and forced an initial yellow flag, with Harvick in tenth after taking the opportunity to pit. Kligerman opted to stay out to lead Joey Coulter, Cole Whitt and Chad McCumbee: Whitt had needed to pit earlier after causing a debris caution with a blown tyre, while Kyle Busch was forced to come in under this rain caution because of his left front tyre going down.

Four laps later and the rain intensified forcing the red flag and eventually the overnight postponement, resulting in a 19 hours, 19 minutes and 58 seconds stoppage that meant the race resumed early on Sunday morning after the track had been dried. With an ARCA race also to fit in to the schedule at the 2.5 mile unique "tri-oval" circuit before the Cup race, the pressure was on to get the race completed.

The race went green for ten laps until Piquet Jr.'s right front tyre failed and sheared off bringing out another caution on lap 32, and another caution followed on lap 37 for a wreck involving David Starr, Brendan Gaughan and Peyton Sellers. Sellers caused the next caution five laps later when he stalled on approach to pit road.

That enabled Harvick to be confident that he could make it to the end of the race without a time-consuming pit stop, his last stop coming just before the red flag on Saturday night leaving him marginal on fuel and seeing him resort to shutting the engine off and coasting through turn 1 during the middle section of the race. Even so, he would have been hard-pressed to make the end of the race without those cautions, as it went to a green-white-chequered finish that extended the race an extra three laps after contact from Austin Dillon sent Todd Bodine spinning on lap 49.

In the end Harvick pulled away to a comfortable lead to claim his 10th career Truck series win in his 110th start, having led for a total of 44 laps. Equally satisfying was that he was able to finish in front of arch-rival Kyle Busch.

"I think you saw the #18 drive back up through there with tyres," said Harvick afterwards. "Tyres still meant something. Our truck was just so fast that there was really no reason to give up the track position to come and get tires, since we were good on fuel."

James Buescher finished third and was the highest-placed of the Truck Series regulars eligible to score points, just ahead of championship leader Johnny Sauter and Austin Dillon recovering form that late contact to hold fifth.

Provisionally that put Sauter five points ahead of Dillon (and 19 ahead of Buescher) in the Truck championship. However, Sauter's truck - which crashed during qualifying and required frantic pre-race preparations and repairs - failed post-race inspection after checks found that it had exceeded the allowed right rear maximum height. That probably means that points will be docked when the race is reviewed by NASCAR on Tuesday.

James Hylton made history by coming the oldest person to start a Camping World Truck Series event at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 11 days. Unfortunately his race lastest only 7 laps before he retired with engine problems.
